Consumer Council released latest supermarket price survey report of the current month

The Consumer Council released the first “Supermarket price survey report” of São Lázaro, São Lourenço and Sé Parishes in January. Surveyed data included prices, price differences and promotional offers of over 200 products from 13 supermarkets in those Parishes. Consumers may now check the report data on the Council’s website (www.consumer.gov.mo), the “Supermarket Price Information Platform” app, or the Council’s WeChat account.


Macao in close touch with national authorities on newly-identified virus

The Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) is keeping in close contact with the national authorities responsible for health and disease control, on the latest developments – particularly quarantine methods and appropriate treatment – relating to the outbreak of pneumonia in Wuhan, Hubei Province.


Lou Kau Mansion will close early from 15 to 17 January

In conjunction with the programme Property Guide at Lou Kau Mansion, integrated in the 19th Macao City Fringe Festival, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the Lou Kau Mansion will close at 5pm from 15 to 17 January. The second floor will be temporarily closed from 11 to 17 January.


IFTM Volunteer Circle undertakes second English teaching project in Guizhou

A group of 30 members of the IFTM Volunteer Circle visited the Second National Senior High School in Congjiang County, Guizhou Province 22 to 29 December, 2019. Students were appreciative of the support of the DSES in Macao.

Surveyed data included prices, price differences and promotional offers of over 200 products from 14 supermarkets in the Parish. Consumers may now check the report data on the Council’s website (www.consumer.gov.mo), the “Supermarket Price Information Platform” app, or the Council’s WeChat account.



UM-hosted Bank of China Trophy One Million Dollar Macao Regional Entrepreneurship Competition now open for applications

The Bank of China Trophy One Million Dollar Macao Regional Entrepreneurship Competition, hosted by the University of Macau (UM), is now open for applications. All students currently studying at tertiary institutions in Macao and Macao residents studying at overseas tertiary institutions are eligible to participate. The total cash prize for the Macao regional competition is MOP 120,000. The top three winners of the regional competition will advance to the grand final to compete for a cash prize of RMB 1 million and the opportunity to win funding for their start-up business. The deadline for applications is 10 February 2020.


Government has sufficient legal powers regarding disease control

The Government has sufficient legal powers to take any steps necessary to prevent an outbreak of disease in the community. In that regard, there is no need for either fresh or urgent legislation by way of response to the pneumonia cases of unknown origin that have occurred in Wuhan, Hubei Province.
