Online teaching is introduced to facilitate the studies of tertiary students
During the period of class suspension due to the novel coronavirus, the higher education institutions have given their full support to carry out the instructions of the Higher Education Bureau. To minimise the impact on the studies of tertiary students, local institutions have actively adopted online and distance teaching and learning tools. The efforts are made to achieve the goal of suspending classes without suspending learning.

This Friday the FSS Pays the Old-Age and Disability Pension Approved in January
The Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) announced that the old-age pension or disability pension applicants who have received the approval notice in January this year will receive their payments on the 14th day of this month (Friday). The FSS also appeals to the people concerned to cooperate with the SAR Government’s epidemic prevention recommendations, not to go to the banks for this reason to “update their passbooks”, and they should try to stay at home.

4-uni joint entrance exam and UM’s entrance exam postponed to 16-19 April 2020
To prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, the Higher Education Bureau of the Macao SAR has decided to postpone the four-university joint entrance examination for the 2020/2021 academic year to between 16 April and 19 April 2020, upon discussion with the four universities, namely University of Macau (UM), Macao Polytechnic Institute, the Institute for Tourism Studies, and Macau University of Science and Technology. The delay is to make sure that students have sufficient time to prepare for the examinations. UM’s entrance examination will also be held during the same period. UM says that it will make thorough preparations to ensure the health of examinees and working personnel.

The University of Macau Opens Online Resources to Help Macao Students Studying in Taiwan Learn at Ease
In view of the recent suspension the entry of Hong Kong and Macao residents in the Taiwan region, thousands of Macao students studying in Taiwan are unable to continue their studies. The Higher Education Bureau is paying close attention to this matter and to the adequacy of online learning resources for the affected students. After consulting the University of Macao (UM), the Bureau has received full support from UM, which will shoulder social responsibility to provide online learning resources for the affected students to help them enhance their professional knowledge without leaving home, and to ensure that their studies will not be delayed.

JAE to be postponed until mid-April
In response to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, the Higher Education Bureau has reached consensus with the University of Macau, Macao Polytechnic Institute, Macao Institute for Tourism Studies, and Macau University of Science and Technology on the captioned matter. The Joint Admission Examination for Macao Four Higher Education Institutions (JAE) is now rescheduled to 16-19 April, to allow candidates sufficient time to make preparation. Meanwhile, the institutions reassure that infection prevention and control measures will be in place to ensure the safety and health of the exam candidates and personnel.
