Macao Franchise Expo 2019 Opens in Late July

The “Macao Franchise Expo 2019” (2019MFE) will be held at the Venetian Macao from July 26 to 28. Taking advantage of the international exchange and cooperation platform, this year’s MFE will continue to bring together the world’s leading franchise businesses and trade visitors. It will continue contributing to cooperation between enterprises and generating business opportunities through a variety of activities and supporting services.


Judiciary Police organizes storm surge evacuation drill on Sunday 30 June 2019

In view of the coming of the typhoon season, Judiciary Police continues to hold briefing sessions and simulation drills under the coordination of the Unitary Police Service to strengthen public awareness on disaster prevention and storm surge evacuation in order to facilitate speedy, safe and orderly evacuations among members of the public during typhoon and storm surge.


External merchandise trade statistics for May 2019

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that total merchandise export for May 2019 amounted to MOP908 million, down by 15.5% year-on-year. Value of re-exports (MOP786 million) decreased by 15.7%, with that of Machines, apparatus & parts falling by 48.6%. Value of domestic exports (MOP122 million) dropped by 14.5%, with that of Copper & articles thereof decreasing by 31.9%. Total merchandise import rose by 3.5% year-on-year to MOP7.26 billion, of which imports of Beauty, cosmetic & skin-care products, Watches and Food & beverages expanded by 29.3%, 17.7% and 9.2% respectively; meanwhile, imports of Mobile phones, Construction materials and Motor cars & motorcycles declined by 51.9%, 16.2% and 12.9% respectively. Merchandise trade deficit in May totalled MOP6.35 billion.


Package tours and hotel occupancy rate for May 2019

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that visitors on package tours increased by 16.4% year-on-year to 827,000 in May 2019. Package tour visitors from mainland China (639,000), the Republic of Korea (58,000) and Taiwan (59,000) rose by 17.5%, 26.8% and 6.1% respectively, whereas those from Hong Kong (16,000) surged by 53.5%. In the first five months of 2019, there were 4,122,000 package tour visitors, a growth of 14.7% year-on-year.


DSI extends service scope of online application status enquiry

The Identification Services Bureau (DSI) extends online application status enquiry service to various certificates starting from 28th June 2019, following the introduction of online application status enquiry for the resident identity card, travel documents and the Certificate of Criminal Record in 2018.


Exhibition “Italian Renaissance Drawings from the British Museum” Talk explores the origins of the exhibition

The exhibition “Italian Renaissance Drawings from the British Museum”, organized by the Macao Museum of Art (MAM), under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, and the British Museum, is now being held on the 3rd floor of the MAM. As part of the programme of “Art Macao” and the celebration of the 20th anniversary of Macao Museum of Art, this exhibition is of great significance. A series of excellent activities, including a thematic talk, guided tours and audio guide.


Consumer Council released specific price survey results on tissue papers, OTC drugs, and milk powder

Consumer Council conducted its specific price survey on tissue papers, over-the-counter drugs, and milk powder on 27 June for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Results of the mentioned survey has been uploaded to the Council’s website (www.consumer.gov.mo), it is also available on the Council’s“Macao Supermarket Price Information Platform” app, as well as on the Council’s WeChat account page.


Government receives notice of operational event at Yangjiang nuclear power plant

The Unitary Police Service has today received a notice regarding an operational event at a facility run by Yangjiang Nuclear Power Co Ltd.


Zhuhai basic medical insurance available soon for Macao residents living on Hengqin
