32nd Macao International Music Festival kicks off in the fall “Enjoy – The Moment in music” draws people together

The 32nd Macao International Music Festival(MIMF), organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, will be held from 28 September to 28 October. This edition of the MIMF is themed “Enjoy – The Moment in music” and offers 16 programmes in a total of 22 excellent performances, hoping that the audience will seize the moment and feel the joy and fulfilment that music brings to the soul, thereby drawing people together.

The “Guangdong & Macao Branded Products Fair” is a flagship annual event for Guangdong and Macao that encompasses trade, cultural exchanges, shopping, leisure and entertainment. This year witnesses the GMBPF’s 10th anniversary since its debut in 2009. The co-organisers hope that the GMBPF can constantly improve itself based on its past successes and continue in its role as a platform for attracting investment and going global. Enterprises also speak highly of the GMBPF, noting that it is as an extraordinary platform and window for participants to seek different customers and expand business markets.

Consumer Council conducted its latest ‘Supermarket price survey’ on 24 July for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included supermarkets at Lam Mau, Patane and San Kio areas in Santo António Parish.



The Successful Hosting of the “2018 Symposium on the Innovative Development and Trade Promotion of Traditional Medicine (Barcelona)” in Spain

The “2018 Symposium on the Innovative Development and Trade Promotion of Traditional Medicine (Barcelona)”, organised by the Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of Co-operation between Guangdong and Macao (hereafter “the GMTCM Park”) in collaboration with the European Foundation of Traditional Chinese Medicine, was held on 9 July in Barcelona, ​​Spain. Experts and representatives from government departments, associations, professional institutions related to registration, review and approval, and representatives from manufacturing and sales enterprises in countries and regions including the Macao SAR, mainland China, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands and Germany, are invited to the Symposium. In response to the national Belt and Road Initiative, it aims at promoting the international exchange and cooperation of traditional Chinese medicine culture and industry, and capitalising on the role of the GMTCM Park as an “International Window for the TCM Industry and Culture in the context of the Belt and Road Initiative”.


UM launches various summer camps for local and overseas students

The University of Macau’s (UM) summer camps and other summer programmes have been quite popular among international students and secondary school students in Macao. This year, the university continues to organise summer programmes of different themes, including civil engineering, artificial intelligence, biomedical sciences, English, and Portuguese, to help students discover their talents and interests.


Fireworks contestants poised to dazzle Macao’s skyline in September

The 29th Macao International Fireworks Display Contest (“the Contest”) will be staged above the sea area overlooked by the Macau Tower on 1st, 8th, 15th and 24th September and 1st October. Ten pyrotechnic teams will present spectacular fireworks displays synchronized to music and laser lights within a multimedia experience not to miss. Aside from an array of outreach programs, the Fireworks Carnival will be held concurrently with the Contest to bring together culinary delights, lively performances and fun games. In sum, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has infused a palette of fascinating elements into five memorable fireworks evenings to present for residents and visitors.



Visitor arrivals for June 2018

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that visitor arrivals totalled 2,602,853 in June 2018, up by 9.4% year-on-year. Overnight visitors (1,445,431) and same-day visitors (1,157,422) grew by 7.2% and 12.4% respectively year-on-year. The average length of stay of visitors held steady year-on-year at 1.3 days, with that of overnight visitors rising by 0.1 day to 2.2 days while that of same-day visitors staying at 0.2 day.

The Macao Franchise Expo 2018 (2018MFE) has entered its 10th year since its debut in 2009. Elements of current international economic development are well integrated into the theme, venue, as well as various exhibition areas, helping exhibitors and participants in exploring business opportunities.
