Completed application form for nomination committee regarding Legislative Assembly Election should be submitted at earliest opportunity
The Electoral Affairs Commission for the Legislative Assembly Election today issued a reminder that 6 June is the deadline for submitting an application form for the endorsement of a nomination committee. That relates to endorsement of those intending to form a nomination committee and run for the Legislative Assembly Election, which is to be held on 14 September.

Company statistics for the first quarter of 2025
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 913 new companies were incorporated and 186 companies were dissolved in the first quarter of 2025, which represented a net increase of 727 in the number of companies.

MPU Publishes Vol. 53 of the Journal of One Country Two Systems Studies
The new issue of the Journal of One Country Two Systems Studies (Vol. 53) edited by the “One Country Two Systems” Research Centre of Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) has just been published. There are 12 articles in this issue. The Journal of One Country Two Systems Studies aims at giving the public an insight into the “One Country, Two Systems” policy and establishing an academic platform for the study of “One Country, Two Systems”. Local and overseas scholars are welcome to contribute to the journal so as to enhance academic cooperation and exchanges.

IPIM Attends Web Summit in Brazil to Attract the International Technology Exhibition to Macao
The Macao Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) participated in the Web Summit Rio 2025, an international technology exhibition hosted in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from 27 to 30 April, to learn about the operation of the exhibition and explore the potential of hosting the “Web Summit” event in Macao. At the event, the IPIM team met with the organisers, who expressed their interest in visiting Macao for site inspections and further negotiations.

The 3rd Bauhinia Forum on Development of Computer Science was held at the University of Macau (UM), alongside a meeting of deans and department heads from renowned universities in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao regions. Themed ‘Trends in the Development of Computer Science in the AI Era’, the forum brought together over 30 academicians, deans, department heads, professors, and distinguished experts and scholars from top universities in mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao to discuss the opportunities and challenges for computer science disciplines in the new era and explore further collaborative efforts to lead the development of computer science worldwide.

International banking statistics – March 2025
According to the statistics released today (19 May) by the Monetary Authority of Macao, the proportion of international business in the local banking sector rose in the first quarter of 2025. At end-March 2025, the share of international assets in total banking assets increased to 83.7% from 83.3% at end-December 2024, while the share of international liabilities in total banking liabilities remained at 80.9%.
