MGTO’s new seminar further familiarizes tourism personnel with Muslim customers
Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) organized the “Enhancing the Awareness of the Tourism Industry About Muslim Customers Seminar” today (27 February) to help tourism-related personnel grow their knowledge and skills of attending to Muslim customers, besides promoting Halal certification and cultivation of Muslim-friendly tourism environment. The seminar was held as part of the endeavor to diversify visitations and expand international markets, which will in turn deepen Macao’s development as a world centre of tourism and leisure in line with the development plan for economic diversification.

Following the eleventh edition of “Macao Philatelic Catalogue” issued in 2023, the twelfth edition has also been compiled. Continuing with the format in the previous edition, it covers comprehensive information on all the philatelic products issued from 2023 to 2024.

Exhibit of Macao Post and Telecommunications Wins Gold Medal in International Competition
The judging and exhibition tour of the 19th International Competition Class for Issuing Postal Authorities of UPU Member Countries and Territories, jointly organized by the Universal Postal Union and the International Federation of Philately, has been successfully completed. The participating collections were exhibited in Bucharest, Romania; San Francisco, United States; Paris, France; and Shanghai, China. The exhibit of Macao Post and Telecommunications has won the Gold Medal of Group B (countries issuing between 30 and 69 postage stamps per year) among all other exhibits with its unique and exquisite design.

Transport and communications statistics for January 2025
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that licensed motor vehicles in Macao totalled 253,639 as at end-January 2025, up by 1% year-on-year. In January, cross-border vehicular traffic (872,900 trips), passenger ferry trips (6,997 trips) and arriving and departing commercial flights at the Macau International Airport (4,961 trips) rose by 19.1%, 9.5% and 10.4% year-on-year respectively. As at end-January 2025, number of mobile phone subscribers (1,450,419) and internet subscribers (774,963) showed respective growth of 5.1% and 5.2% year-on-year.

Package tours and hotel occupancy rate for January 2025
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that inbound package tour visitors totalled 239,000 in January 2025, an uplift of 79.2% year-on-year. Number of available guest rooms in hotel establishments decreased by 7% year-on-year to 43,000, while the average occupancy rate of guest rooms rose by 3.9 percentage points to 89.8%. The average length of stay of guests remained at 1.6 nights.
