In order to encourage students to make good use of their spare time during the summer holidays, acquire knowledge and enrich their lives through reading, the Online Bookshop launched by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) launches a special summer promotion from 1 to 31 July. Readers may enjoy 20% discount on all books on the website, and may receive a set of “Iec Long Firecrackers Factory” bookmarks. The public is welcome to purchase their favourite publications.


List of Special Allocation from Budget Surplus for the Non-Mandatory Central Provident Fund for 2024 is Announced

The Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) will announce tomorrow (20 June) the list of Special Allocation from Budget Surplus for the Non-Mandatory Central Provident Fund System for 2024. This year, a total of 389,346 people was included in the list and 183,181 people were not. Residents can check their names in the list via the “Macao One Account”, the website of FSS at www.fss.gov.mo, self-service machine or 24-hour interactive voice response hotline 2823 0230. Objection statements and fund withdrawal applications for certain reasons can be filed via the “Macao One Account”. At the same time, residents may also check their registration status of automatic withdrawal and whether they satisfy the eligibility requirements for automatic payment, via the “Macao One Account” and website of FSS.


Business climate survey on restaurants & similar establishments and retail trade for April 2024

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that receipts of the interviewed restaurants & similar establishments went down by 11.8% year-on-year in April 2024, owing to a high base of comparison resulting from the timing of the Easter holiday which fell in March this year compared to April last year. Receipts of Western Restaurants dropped by 22.8% while those of Local Style Cafes, Congee & Noodle Shops rose by 0.3%. Meanwhile, sales of the interviewed retailers slipped by 32.3% year-on-year in April. All types of interviewed retailers registered a year-on-year decline in sales, with Watches, Clocks & Jewellery Retailers recording the largest decrease (-44.6%) in sales.


Registration for the “Echo Programme – Band Training Camp” is open

To nurture talented and promising musicians in Macao and further elevate the level of original music composition in the region, the “Echo Programme – Band Training Camp”, organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), will be open for registration from 20 June to 12 July. Professional music producers and musicians will provide selected bands with specialised training in band performance, stage performance, and music production to enhance their professional skills. Emerging bands in Macao are welcome to participate.


The Latest Issue of MPU Magazine “Sprouting” is Now Released

The latest issue of Macao Polytechnic University (MPU)’s magazine, “Sprouting,” has been released. Themed “Intelligent Drug Spectra Research,” the magazine aims to share MPU's educational and research achievements and developments with the local community and international academic institutions through cover stories, features, development focuses, interviews, and campus updates.


MPU Seniors Academy Holds 2024 Graduation Ceremony

The graduation ceremony of the 2023/2024 Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) Seniors Academy (ACS) has been successfully held, with a total of 220 senior students graduating this year. The ceremony was officiated by Hon Wai, Director of the Social Welfare Bureau; Lei Vai Fong, Secretary-General of MPU; Paul Pun, Secretary General of Caritas Macau; and Lam Wan Mei, Dean of the Seniors Academy of MPU.


“Greater Bay Area Cultural Heritage Forum” calls for submission of photographs of revitalised historic buildings in Macao

In order to deepen exchanges and cooperation in the field of cultural heritage in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) will hold the “Greater Bay Area Cultural Heritage Forum” (hereinafter referred to as “the Forum”) and a series of outreach activities in late October, including the “Greater Bay Area Cultural Heritage Forum – Exhibition of Selected Works from the Call for Submission of Photographs of Revitalised Historic Buildings”, organised by IC and co-organised by MGM. These works must be unpublished black-and-white or colour photographs (either aerial and/or panoramic) and must be related to the exhibition’s theme “revitalised historic buildings in Macao”. The members of the public are welcome to submit their works from today until 18 August.
