【Synergy of tourism and Macao-Hengqin joint investment promotion reaps harvest】 Successive Macao Weeks in ten cities boost visitor arrivals and facilitate over 1,000 business matching sessions
Since 2020 till now, the Macao SAR Government has held Macao Weeks in ten cities namely Beijing, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Chongqing, Qingdao, Tianjin, Xiamen and Xi’an. In accord with the strategic plan for “tourism +” development, the Macao weeks have successfully incorporated destination marketing with collaborative promotion of investment opportunities in Macao and Hengqin, while embracing the opportunities unlocked by the Central Government’s favorable measures for Macao. The events have yielded great harvest in terms of attracting more Mainland tourists and businesses to Macao for vacation and investment opportunities respectively.

‘The Splendour of Chinese Bronzes’ exhibition to open at Macao Museum of Art next Friday, showcasing ancient bronzes from the National Museum of China collection
In celebration of the 25th anniversary of Macao’s return to the motherland, ‘The Splendour of Chinese Bronzes: Masterpieces from the National Museum of China’ jointly organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government and the National Museum of China and implemented by the Macao Museum of Art (MAM) will open at MAM at 6 p.m. on 6 September. The exhibition will showcase over 150 ancient bronzes from the collection of the National Museum of China, including 28 national first-class artefacts such as the Bronze Nao (Musical Instrument) with Elephants Design, ‘Zuo Ce Ban’ Bronze Yan (Steamer), ‘Jing Bo’ Bronze You (Ritual Vessel), ‘Liu Nian Diao Sheng’ Bronze Gui (Ritual Food Container), and ‘Shi You’ Bronze Gui (Ritual Food Container). All are welcome to visit the exhibition and appreciate the exceptional appeal of these national treasures.

Release of Macao SAR Balance of Payments Preliminary Estimate for 2023
The Monetary Authority of Macao (AMCM) releases today (30 August) the preliminary balance of payments (BOP) statistics of Macao SAR for the reference year 2023. The BOP, which comprises the current account, the capital account and the financial account, is a statistical statement that summarises external transactions of an economy with the rest of the world.

Transport and communications statistics for July 2024
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that licensed motor vehicles in Macao totalled 250,970 as at end-July 2024, up by 0.4% year-on-year, with light automobiles (117,459) rising by 2.4%. New registration of motor vehicles in July went up by 34.0% year-on-year to 1,183 (including 349 electric vehicles); of which, light automobiles increased by 58.8% to 686 (151 of them were electric), whereas heavy motorcycles dropped by 1.8% to 384 (104 of them were electric). In the first seven months of 2024, new registration of motor vehicles grew by 3.5% year-on-year to 7,126 (2,163 of them were electric). Number of traffic accidents in July climbed by 24.3% year-on-year to 1,405, with 491 persons injured. In the first seven months of this year, there were 9,071 traffic accidents, which resulted in 2 deaths and 3,212 injuries.

Celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao SAR—Retrospective Exhibition of Macao Decorative Archways for the Celebration of China’s National Day

Organised by the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) and the Oral History Association of Macao, co-organised by the Macau Artist Society, and supported by Macao Daily News, the “Celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region—Retrospective Exhibition of Macao Decorative Archways for the Celebration of China’s National Day” will be launched on 20 September in the IAM Gallery. Through displaying precious photos of the decorative archways, their design drawings, and interviews with craftsmen, the exhibition with rich, invaluable content showcases the development and changes of the archways built to celebrate the National Day since the late 1940s.

Macao Chinese Orchestra 2024-25 Season Opening Concert “Splendor of the Strings” will be held on 1 September (Sunday) at 8pm at Macao Cultural Centre Grand Auditorium. Under the baton of Zhang Lie, the new Music Director and Principal Conductor, the Macao Chinese Orchestra, joined by the violinist Lao Li, the Chinese percussion performer Yin Fei, the Western percussion performer Liu Heng, and the Sheng performer Jia Lei, will demonstrate a perfect combination of Chinese and Western instruments.
