Government sets up five leading and working groups to enhance governance

The Chief Executive, Mr Sam Hou Fai, issued on 13 February an internal directive for the setting up of five leading and working groups within the Government, tasked with enhancing governance capability and governance level.


Classic Theatre Chekhov’s masterpiece brings Isabelle Huppert to CCM

The Cultural Affairs Bureau presents The Cherry Orchard, a theatrical classic featuring Isabelle Huppert in the lead role, reimagined by Portuguese director Tiago Rodrigues. Anton Chekhov’s iconic play will be staged twice, on April 4 and 5 (Friday and Saturday), at Macao Cultural Centre’s Grand Auditorium.


UM Macao Centre for Testing of Chinese Medicine holds promotion event

The Macao Centre for Testing of Chinese Medicine (MCTCM) of the University of Macau (UM) held its first promotion event today (18 February), with the aim of strengthening connections with the industry, promoting the development of the Chinese medicine and ‘big health’ industries, and providing technical support for Macao’s economic diversification. More than 60 government officials and industry practitioners attended the event.


Seminar on national security law held at UM

The seminar titled ‘The Evolution and Impact of National Security Law: The Interaction between China Mainland and Hong Kong-Macao Legal Systems’, hosted by the Faculty of Law (FLL) of the University of Macau (UM), was held at UM. The event brought together nearly 40 legal experts from mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao to discuss the development of national security law and its significance for legal practice in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.



International banking statistics – December 2024

According to the statistics released today (18 February) by the Monetary Authority of Macao, the proportion of international business in the local banking sector rose in the fourth quarter of 2024. At end-December 2024, the share of international assets in total banking assets increased to 83.4% from 83.3% at end-September 2024, while the share of international liabilities in total banking liabilities rose to 80.9% from 80.5%.


Cultural Affairs Bureau continues to call for exhibitors for the Macao Pavilion at the Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART)

Due to the enthusiastic response of the participation of local film and TV production entities in the “Macao Pavilion” at the Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART) in the open call for 2025, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) will continue to call for exhibitors from 18 to 20 February. Eligible entities are welcome to apply.



Tourism crisis assistance team completes first-phase assistance in Taichung

The tourism crisis assistance team (referred to as the “team”) joined Macau Red Cross personnel to arrive at Taichung, Taiwan Region on 13 February, where they strove to provide adequate assistance for the Macao family involved in the gas explosion incident there.


2025 SJM Macao International Dragon Boat Races to be held in May

The 2025 SJM Macao International Dragon Boat Races, organized by the Sports Bureau, SJM Resorts, S.A. (SJM) and the Dragon Boat Association of Macao, China (DBAMC), and co-organized by the Municipal Affairs Bureau and the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau, will take place on 24, 25 and 31 May at the Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre.
