Package tours and hotel occupancy rate for April 2024

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that visitor arrivals on package tours leapt by 142.3% year-on-year to 216,000 in April 2024, with tour visitors from mainland China soaring by 123.3% year-on-year to 194,000. International visitor arrivals on package tours jumped by 979.8% to 20,000 in April, with those coming from the Republic of Korea (8,000) and Malaysia (2,000) surging by 2,382.3% and 1,402.2% year-on-year respectively.


CCAC cracked a case of bribe solicitation involving the executive chef of the food and beverage department of a company under a gaming enterprise

The CCAC received an in-person report made by a representative of a company wholly-owned by a gaming enterprise, indicating that the executive chef of the food and beverage department of the company had been soliciting bribes from workers for many years and allegedly violated the law and the internal code of conduct of the company. Therefore, the company wanted to pursue his accountability.


[Showcasing the Advantages of Macao Products] IPIM and Industrial Association of Macau Participate in the “THAIFEX-Anuga Asia”

The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and Industrial Association of Macau will jointly set up the “Macao Pavilion” in the “THAIFEX-Anuga Asia 2024” to be held in Bangkok, Thailand from 28 May to 1 June. At the THAIFEX-Anuga Asia expo, the largest and most influential food and beverage expo in Asia, seventeen (17) Macao enterprises will exhibit nearly 300 “Made in Macao, Macao Brand” products, such as Macao signature souvenir cakes, pasta, coffee, tea, energy drinks, and wines, to showcase the charm of Macao products and to promote the F&B co-operation between Macao and Southeast Asian countries and regions.


Women's Volleyball Nations League 2024 Macao presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group kicks off tomorrow

The Women’s Volleyball Nations League 2024 Macao presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group, jointly organized by the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, Galaxy Entertainment Group, and the Volleyball Association of Macao, China will kick off tomorrow (28 May) at the Galaxy Arena. The coach and captain of the eight participating teams – China, Brazil, Italy, the Dominican Republic, Japan, the Netherlands, Thailand and France – met with media today.



UM to hold Congregation on 2 June

The University of Macau (UM) will hold the Congregation 2024 on Sunday 2 June at 4:00pm in the UM Sports Complex (N8) to present graduation certificates to graduates of the bachelor’s degree programmes. This year’s congregation will continue to be held in a hybrid format so that graduates and their families and friends from around the world can join in the joyous occasion online.


UTM students developed business strategies for a high and new technology company

The Macao University of Tourism (UTM) continues to offer entrepreneurship course, aiming to cultivate an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset with practical skills among students. This academic year, students who enrolled in the entrepreneurship course under the Hotel Management degree programme undertook an industrial project with Ms Judy Wong, founder of Robi3 Robotics, in collaboration with Merit Smart Technology. Their goal was to research and develop applications for the company's latest hologram and interactive projection technologies, specifically for tourism and hospitality sectors in Macao.


MICE Statistics for the 1st quarter of 2024

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 307 MICE events were held in the first quarter of 2024, including 289 meetings & conferences, 12 exhibitions and 6 incentives. The number of MICE events rose by 31.2% (+73) year-on-year. MICE-driven receipts of the non-gaming industries in Macao was estimated at MOP900 million in the first quarter of 2024, up by more than 50% from the same quarter of 2023 (MOP600 million) attributable to an increase in the spending of MICE visitors.


Temporary Red Market operates until 28 May and last shuttle bus to depart at dusk on the same day

As Red Market will officially resume business on 30 May, the temporary Red Market located in Rua Marginal do Lam Mau will operate until 28 May. The free shuttle bus between Horta e Costa district and temporary Red Market will cease operation and the last shuttle bus will depart temporary Red Market at 6:30 p.m. on 28 May. The public are advised to pay attention to the above arrangement.


Stage set for the Women's Volleyball Nations League 2024 Macao presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group

The Women’s Volleyball Nations League 2024 Macao presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group, jointly organized by the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, Galaxy Entertainment Group, and the Volleyball Association of Macao, China will be held at the Galaxy Arena from 28 May (Tuesday) to 2 June (Sunday). As the preparatory work is close to completion, the Technical Delegates and the Organizing Committee have conducted an overall inspection and testing of venue facilities to ensure smooth running of the event.
