Foreign exchange reserves and nominal effective exchange rate index for the pataca – December 2024
The Monetary Authority of Macao announced today (15 January) that the preliminary estimate of Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves amounted to MOP235.0 billion (USD29.39 billion) at the end of December 2024. The reserves increased by 1.0% from the revised value of MOP232.6 billion (USD29.01 billion) for the previous month. Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves at end-December 2024 represented 11 times the currency in circulation or 90.9% of pataca M2 at end-November 2024.

MPU and SUS Launch Collaborative Talent Cultivation in Physical Science and Sports Technology
To strengthen the sports and health industries in both Macao and the Greater Bay Area, Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) and Shanghai University of Sport (SUS) have initiated collaborative efforts in talent development through two new postgraduate programmes: the Doctor of Philosophy in Physical Education and Sports Science, and the Master of Science in Sports Technology and Innovation. Commencing in the 2025/2026 academic year, the programmes are currently accepting applications.
