The “One Country Two Systems” Study Camp 2024 Organised by MPU Gains Popularity

Working in conjunction with the Macao SAR Government's efforts to promote patriotic education of the Country and Macao, and to enhance Macao's reputation as a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure, Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) once again hosted the “One Country Two Systems” Study Camp in July 2024. The study camp aimed to deepen the knowledge and understanding of the “One Country, Two Systems” policy among young university students in Mainland China. Attended by a total of 100 teachers and students from over 20 higher education institutions in the Mainland, the Study Camp yielded fruitful results.


Package tours and hotel occupancy rate for the first half of 2024

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that inbound package tour visitors leapt by 166.0% year-on-year to 968,000 in the first half of 2024, with those from mainland China soaring by 143.0% to 851,000. In addition, international tour visitors jumped by 843.6% to 102,000; those from the Republic of Korea (42,000) and India (13,000) rocketed by 1,431.6% and 2,045.1% respectively.


Online registration for the exchange of four previously issued Zodiac banknotes commencing next Monday (5 August)

The second round of the exchange of the four previously issued Zodiac Banknotes (including the Rat, Ox, Tiger and Rabbit Zodiac Banknotes) will be available for online registration for Macao residents, starting from 9:00am on 5 August 2024 and until 6:00pm on 30 August 2024.

The “Celebration of 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China, and the 25th Anniversary of Macao’s Return to the Motherland ‧ 2024 Guangdong & Macao Branded Products Fair” is open to the public from today (26) to 28 July with free admission. Boasting the record-largest exhibition space with an area of over 12,000 square metres, the 2024GMBPF gathers more than 450 exhibitors in 501 booths to display and sell branded products for domestic or business purposes from Guangdong, Macao and Belt and Road countries and regions. The fair features the “New Gourmet Tasting Zone 2.0” with cooking and food tasting on the spot and immersive experiences for China Chic and smart hotels. Over 75,000 exquisite gifts are prepared for visitors upon their admission to celebrate the two anniversaries. In the one-stop fair, visitors can satisfy their cravings to eat, shop and play.

Campaign period starts on Saturday for Chief Executive Election Committee poll

The Electoral Affairs Commission for the Chief Executive Election today issued a remainder that any campaigning activities for the 11 August poll to choose members of the Chief Executive Election Committee, should be in line with Chief Executive Election Law and the 1/CAECE/2024 guideline issued by the Electoral Affairs Commission.




IAM treats trees to prevent and control seasonal pest infestation

Macao is in the midst of a season with high temperature and rainfall, which is a time when disease and pest infestation frequent occur. The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) has found that street trees in some streets and districts have been affected by seasonal pest infestations in recent inspections and has immediately used medication to prevent and treat the infestations. IAM will continue to adjust the relevant treatment measures based on the changes of the trees to suppress pest infestation. Meanwhile, notices were hung on trees on which pesticide has been used, so as to remind the public to avoid coming into contact with these trees.
