[After the Goals of 1,500 MICE Events Involving 1+4 Industries]More International MICE Courses Will Be Introduced to Stimulate Qualitative Development of Macao MICE Industry
In view of the goal of holding 1,500 MICE events in 2024, the Macao SAR government has been planning and implementing the relevant work in an orderly manner. According to the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), many conventions and exhibitions in 2024 are themed on “health and medical care”, “information technology”, “modern financial services”, which are in line with the “1+4” development strategy for appropriately diversified economy.

Visitor arrivals for April 2024
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that visitor arrivals increased by 14.4% year-on-year to 2,600,717 in April 2024, recovering to 75.8% of the figure in the same month of 2019; yet, the number represented a month-on-month drop of 4.4%. Same-day visitors (1,349,927) and overnight visitors (1,250,790) showed respective growth of 23.0% and 6.3% year-on-year. The average length of stay of visitors held stable year-on-year at 1.2 days; the duration for overnight visitors (2.3 days) rose by 0.1 day, while that for same-day visitors (0.2 day) went down by 0.1 day.

[Expanding International MICE Customer Base] “MICE² Macao x Hengqin” Debutes at IMEX Frankfurt and Facilitates Over 280 Business Matching Sessions
The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) set up the “Macao-Hengqin Pavilion” at the “IMEX Frankfurt 2024” held in Germany from 14 to 16 May. During the event, IPIM and ten Macao MICE companies, including convention and exhibition service providers and integrated tourism and leisure enterprises, held seven Macao-Hengqin MICE Environment Promotion Seminars and facilitated over 280 business matching sessions. The Seminars aim to promote Macao-Hengqin unique advantages in MICE environment and facilities, entry and exit policies and measures, logistics and support services, in order to expand international MICE customer base.

China women's volleyball team arrives in Macao for Women's Volleyball Nations League 2024 Macao presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group
The Women’s Volleyball Nations League 2024 Macao presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group, jointly organized by the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, Galaxy Entertainment Group, and the Volleyball Association of Macao, China will be held at the Galaxy Arena from 28 May (Tuesday) to 2 June (Sunday). The Chinese team, backed by the support of fans, arrives in Macao today (21 May) to prepare for the competition. The remaining teams, namely Brazil, Italy, Dominican Republic, Japan, the Netherlands, Thailand and France will also arrive in Macao to fight for the best ranking in order to qualify for the finals.

Stall vendors in Red Market to resume business on 30 May as smooth progress was made on relocation
The reorganisation works of Red Market (Red Market) have been completed on time. The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) has continuously communicated with the stall vendors of Red Market and the various items of relocation work have been carried out in an orderly manner. According to the current progress, about 120 stall vendors will be arranged to relocate back to Red Market on 28 and 29 May and reopen their business to the public on 30 May. Furthermore, the hawkers surrounding the exterior of the Red Market will resume their business in the direction of “facing away from shops and facing the Red Market” and resume operation in their original locations in late May.
