Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 965 building units and parking spaces were purchased and sold in the first quarter of 2024 as per Stamp Duty record, and the total value of transactions was MOP4.76 billion, up by 19.0% and 26.6% respectively quarter-on-quarter. Purchase and sale of residential units increased by 48 quarter-on-quarter to 573 units, and the total value went up by 16.7% to MOP3.34 billion. Number of existing residential units transacted (530 units) grew by 20.7% and the transaction value (MOP3.11 billion) swelled by 27.6%. Moreover, transaction volume (43 units) and value (MOP 230 million) of pre-sale residential units declined by 50.0% and 45.7% respectively quarter-on-quarter.

According to the statistics released today (17 May) by the Monetary Authority of Macao, the proportion of international business in the local banking sector fell in the first quarter of 2024. At end-March 2024, the share of international assets in total banking assets decreased to 83.3% from 83.8% at end-December 2023, while the share of international liabilities in total banking liabilities fell to 81.1% from 81.8%.

In order to celebrate the "World Telecommunication and Information Society Day"(WTISD) established by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the Macau Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT) held a celebration ceremony and thematic seminar at the Grand Ballroom, MGM Macau at 09:30 am on May 17^th. The Secretary for Transport and Public Works, Raimundo Arrais do Rosário, presided over the ceremony. The Director of CTT, Lau Wai Meng, gave a speech. The theme of WTISD this year is "Digital Innovation for Sustainable Development", aiming to raise the awareness of how digital innovation can contribute to sustainable development in society, encourage various sectors to cooperate to build a smart city.
