Thailand and Brazil win on first matchday of Women's Volleyball Nations League 2024 Macao presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group

The Women’s Volleyball Nations League 2024 Macao presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group, jointly organized by the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, Galaxy Entertainment Group, and the Volleyball Association of Macao, China commenced today (28 May) at the Galaxy Arena. Thailand kicked off the event with a 3-1 win over the Dominican Republic, while Brazil twice came back from behind to defeat Japan 3-2. Italy will meet France at 4 p.m. tomorrow (29 May) while host China will take on the Netherlands at 7:30 p.m.

The Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) released the results of Survey on Manpower Needs and Wages for the first quarter of 2024, which covered the Manufacturing sector; the Electricity, Gas & Water Supply sector; Hotels; Restaurants; the Child-care and Elderly Care industries.


Package tours and hotel occupancy rate for April 2024

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that visitor arrivals on package tours leapt by 142.3% year-on-year to 216,000 in April 2024, with tour visitors from mainland China soaring by 123.3% year-on-year to 194,000. International visitor arrivals on package tours jumped by 979.8% to 20,000 in April, with those coming from the Republic of Korea (8,000) and Malaysia (2,000) surging by 2,382.3% and 1,402.2% year-on-year respectively.


CCAC cracked a case of bribe solicitation involving the executive chef of the food and beverage department of a company under a gaming enterprise

The CCAC received an in-person report made by a representative of a company wholly-owned by a gaming enterprise, indicating that the executive chef of the food and beverage department of the company had been soliciting bribes from workers for many years and allegedly violated the law and the internal code of conduct of the company. Therefore, the company wanted to pursue his accountability.


[Showcasing the Advantages of Macao Products] IPIM and Industrial Association of Macau Participate in the “THAIFEX-Anuga Asia”

The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and Industrial Association of Macau will jointly set up the “Macao Pavilion” in the “THAIFEX-Anuga Asia 2024” to be held in Bangkok, Thailand from 28 May to 1 June. At the THAIFEX-Anuga Asia expo, the largest and most influential food and beverage expo in Asia, seventeen (17) Macao enterprises will exhibit nearly 300 “Made in Macao, Macao Brand” products, such as Macao signature souvenir cakes, pasta, coffee, tea, energy drinks, and wines, to showcase the charm of Macao products and to promote the F&B co-operation between Macao and Southeast Asian countries and regions.

The Women’s Volleyball Nations League 2024 Macao presented by Galaxy Entertainment Group, jointly organized by the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, Galaxy Entertainment Group, and the Volleyball Association of Macao, China will kick off tomorrow (28 May) at the Galaxy Arena. The coach and captain of the eight participating teams – China, Brazil, Italy, the Dominican Republic, Japan, the Netherlands, Thailand and France – met with media today.



UM to hold Congregation on 2 June

The University of Macau (UM) will hold the Congregation 2024 on Sunday 2 June at 4:00pm in the UM Sports Complex (N8) to present graduation certificates to graduates of the bachelor’s degree programmes. This year’s congregation will continue to be held in a hybrid format so that graduates and their families and friends from around the world can join in the joyous occasion online.
