Travel agents from Tokyo and Osaka visit Macao to continue expanding different market segments from Japan
The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) invited a group of travel agents from Tokyo and Osaka for a familiarization visit this week (29 October to 1 November) to provide an update about Macao’s “tourism +” offerings and conduct business contacts with local travel trade, as part of efforts to continue attracting visitors from different market segments in Japan.

UM delivers some postgraduate programmes in Cooperation Zone in Hengqin
With the approval from the Ministry of Education and in line with the development objectives of the Macao SAR government, the University of Macau (UM) takes the lead in delivering teaching activities in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin. Through the establishment of a campus in the Cooperation Zone, UM aims to nurture more talent to meet the industrial development needs of both the Macao SAR and the Cooperation Zone. During the transitional period, some of UM’s postgraduate programmes are delivered in the Cooperation Zone.

UM hosts 6th Macau Symposium on Cognitive and Brain Sciences
To promote interdisciplinary collaboration and academic exchange, the Institute of Collaborative Innovation (ICI) at the University of Macau (UM) held the 6th Macau Symposium on Cognitive and Brain Sciences (MSCBS 2025). The event brought together experts and scholars from renowned universities and research institutions including Stanford University, the California Institute of Technology, Peking University, The University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, to discuss related topics. Over 270 attendees joined the symposium.

Announcement of medical service arrangements of Macao Union Medical Center for compensatory rest day for All Soul’s Day
In view of the compensatory rest day for All Soul’s Day, the outpatient services of the Macao Union Medical Center (including all specialist clinics, the Imagiology Centre, radiation therapy, blood drawing and specimen collection services), the Ambulatory Medical Centre, as well as the outpatient and physical examination services of the International Medical Centre will be closed on 3 November (Monday). However, inpatient and hemodialysis services will operate as usual.

Results of wholesale and retail survey 2024
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that receipts and expenditure of Wholesale & Retail Trade totalled MOP126.18 billion and MOP115.39 billion respectively in 2024, down by 8.4% and 6.7% year-on-year. Gross Surplus amounted to MOP11.61 billion.

Transport, storage and communications survey 2024
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that receipts and expenditure of the Transport, Storage & Communications Sector amounted to MOP28.65 billion and MOP23.59 billion respectively in 2024, up by 7.5% and 8.3% year-on-year. Gross Surplus of the sector totalled MOP5.34 billion.

Employment survey for July – September 2025
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that both the general unemployment rate (1.8%) and the unemployment rate of local residents (2.4%) for July - September 2025 fell by 0.2 percentage points over the previous period (June - August 2025).
