[Single-day hotel occupancy rate peaks at 95% over Labor Day holiday] Total visitor arrivals exceed 600,000 with 23.2% year-on-year surge in average daily volume

Spanning five days (1 – 5 May 2024), the 1st May Labor Day holiday has come to an end in the Mainland. Preliminary statistics show that Macao recorded about 605,000 visitor arrivals in total. The average daily volume of visitors increased year-on-year by 23.2% compared with the Labor Day holiday of last year (2023). The average hotel occupancy rate topped about 89.2%.


【Promote empowerment of women in tourism】MGTO attends UN Tourism’s Regional Conference

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) attended the 2nd Regional Conference on the Empowerment of Women in Tourism in Asia and the Pacific (the “Conference”) organized by UN Tourism in Bali, Indonesia from 2 – 4 May. As one of UN Tourism’s major events in the Asia-Pacific Region, the Conference zeroed in on various challenges and opportunities faced by women in the tourism industry across the region. By participation in the Conference, MGTO seeks to widen its international network and build Macao’s profile within the international tourism organization.


Exhibition “Integration of Art between China and the West in the 18th-19th Centuries” opens at the Macao Museum of Art on Friday showcasing the “Greater Bay Area epoch” created by Chinese and foreign artists

Under the patronage of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province and the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) of the Macao SAR Government and organised by the Macao Museum of Art (MAM) of IC and the Guangdong Museum (Guangzhou Luxun Museum), with the support of the Hong Kong Museum of Art under the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government, the large-scale exhibition “Focus: Integration of Art between China and the West in the 18th-19th Centuries” will be inaugurated on Friday (10 May), at 6:30pm, on the 4th floor of MAM. Through three different perspectives—painting styles, painting skills and painting materials, the exhibition fully showcases the visual dialogue and integration between China and the West, brought about by Chinese and foreign artists in the Pearl River Delta area during the 18th and 19th centuries. The exhibition is a programme integrated in the 34th Macao Arts Festival, and is open to the public.



Extension of the registration period for the 42nd Macao Young Musicians Competition

Due to the technical problems, the registration for the 42nd Macao Young Musicians Competition, organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from its Portuguese acronym), which deadline was at 4pm on 6 May, were extended to 8pm on 7 May. [Expanding PSCs’ Market] IPIM Organises Macao Entrepreneurs to Join the 40th Portuguese Agricultural Fair OVIBEJA

The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) organised a delegation of 15 entrepreneurs from Macao to participate in the 40th Portuguese agricultural fair OVIBEJA in Beja, Portugal from 28 April to 4 May. At the Fair, nearly 40 business matching sessions were conducted between the delegation members and the local exhibitors.
