Macao Polytechnic University Holds Lecture on Fire Safety and First-Aid Knowledge to Strengthen Students’ Awareness of Fire Safety

For the purpose of strengthening students’ awareness of fire safety and enhancing their capacities to respond to fires and other emergencies, the Student Affairs Office of Macao Polytechnic University invited representatives of the Macao SAR Fire Services Bureau to deliver a lecture on “Fire Safety and First-Aid Knowledge”. With this lecture, students learned about correct emergency measures for fires, while strengthening their awareness of fire safety and knowledge of basic first-aid theories and skills. During the “Fire Safety and First-Aid Knowledge” lecture, the representative of the Fire Services Bureau explained to students the causes of fire, fire hazards in daily life, instructions for using fire extinguishing equipment, fire escape principles and self-rescue knowledge. In addition, the ambulance crew member gave an overview of the ambulance service provided by the Fire Services Bureau, as well as general procedures for wound treatment and first-aid knowledge.



Students from the Bachelor's Degree Programme in Gaming and Recreation Management at Macao Polytechnic University have received the Merit Award in Economic Essay Competition

Students from the Bachelor's Degree Programme in Gaming and Recreation Management at Macao Polytechnic University have received the Merit Award at the 13th Economic Essay Competition organized by the Macau Economic Association. The essay titled "SPSS Study on the High-Quality Development of Macao Gaming Enterprises - Analysis Combining Corporate Culture and Green Innovation Theory," authored by Leong Ka Io, Ho Rocman and Ng Mei Hong, has been honored with the Merit Award in the Open Category of this year's essay competition. The competition attracted numerous submissions, with research topics focusing on significant issues such as the moderate diversification of the economy in Macao, the development of emerging industries in Macao, and the Guangdong-Macao in-depth cooperation zone in Hengqin.


Mobile payment and payment card statistics – 4th Quarter 2023

According to statistics released today (6 February) by the Monetary Authority of Macao, in the fourth quarter of 2023, the number and the value of transactions of local mobile payment tools both increased on a quarterly basis. Meanwhile, the credit card and debit card turnover both witnessed growth.



Macao Polytechnic University General Education Scheme aims to broaden the knowledge horizons of young people

To align with the policy directions of the Macao SAR Government and broaden the horizons of university students and young people, Macao Polytechnic University continues to offer lifelong learning and continuing education opportunities to students and the public through the “2024 General Education (GE) Scheme”. The scheme includes various content, such as Chinese and Macao history and culture, constitutional and basic law, language learning, knowledge for academic disciplines, and social and economic development issues. It integrates interdisciplinary knowledge and expands the scope of knowledge. Both internal and external participants have actively participated and benefited immensely from the GE Scheme.



IFTM and Swiss Education Group co-organised a City Salon

The Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (IFTM) and Swiss Education Group (SEG) co-organised a City Salon in January, 2024. IFTM students from the School of Hospitality Management had the opportunity to engage in warm and friendly discussions with SEG representatives and alumnus on topics of interest.


Company statistics for the whole year and 4th Quarter of 2023

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 5,011 new companies were incorporated in 2023, an increase of 900 year-on-year. Number of new companies operating in Wholesale & Retail Trade and Business Services totalled 1,877 and 1,359 respectively. Total value of registered capital of the new companies fell by 89.0% year-on-year to MOP1.65 billion in 2023, attributable to the incorporation of new companies with relatively large capital in Financial Activities in 2022 (a 15.0% year-on-year increase would be seen in registered capital if those companies were excluded from the comparison). Number of companies in dissolution was 914 in 2023, and the value of registered capital of these companies amounted to MOP486 million.


Monetary and financial statistics – December 2023

According to statistics released today (5 February) by the Monetary Authority of Macao, broad money supply retreated in December. Meanwhile, both resident deposits and loans decreased from a month earlier.
