【Celebrate handover anniversary across Macao】MGTO’s new webpage “Fancy Treats at Your Fingertips” spotlights businesses’ special offers in December

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) will introduce a promotional webpage “Fancy Treats at Your Fingertips” to bring into the limelight more than 450 special offers of local integrated resort enterprises and small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao SAR. The themed webpage will be available between 1 and 31 December. Macao residents and visitors can check out and enjoy these offers in the city for a deeper experience of Macao’s diverse “tourism +” and unique charm, in joyful celebration of the handover anniversary.



UM, University of Coimbra organise joint seminar on international and EU law

The Faculty of Law (FLL) of the University of Macau (UM) and the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra (UC) jointly organised the ‘Joint Seminar between Faculty of Law of University of Macau and Faculty of Law of University of Coimbra: Contemporary Issues of International and European Union Law & Recognition Ceremony: Tribute to Professor Doutor Manuel Lopes Porto’. The ceremony aimed to honour Manuel Lopes Porto, professor of UC, for his outstanding contributions to higher education and academic exchanges between Macao and Coimbra, Portugal, and the seminar aimed to discuss contemporary issues in international and European Union (EU) law.


Adjustment to criteria to purchase Macau New Neighbourhood effective today

The criteria to purchase a residential unit at Macau New Neighbourhood (MNN) in Hengqin has been adjusted, including removing the age limit, removing the five-year resale restriction, and adjusting the calculation of the amount of residential unit that one can purchase, which means eligible Macau residents are no longer bound by the restriction where a married couple is counted as one unit. The adjustments are effective today. MNN is open to holders of Macau resident identity card to purchase.


Retail sales survey for the first three quarters of 2024

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the value of retail sales decreased by 16.9% year-on-year to MOP53.48 billion in the first three quarters of 2024, corresponding to 95% of the level in the same period in 2019. In the third quarter, value of retail sales totalled MOP16.59 billion, up by 2.5% as compared with the revised figure (MOP16.19 billion) in the second quarter but down by 15.5% year-on-year.


Result of survey on manpower needs and wages for the 3rd quarter of 2024 – Financial activities

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that there were 8,554 full-time employees in Financial Activities at the end of the third quarter of 2024, down by 12 (-0.1%) year-on-year. Among them, those in the Banking Sector and Other Financial Intermediation (e.g. payment service institutions, financial leasing companies) decreased by 23 (-0.3%) and 9 (-3.3%) year-on-year to 7,258 and 265 respectively, whereas those in Insurance Activities increased by 10 (+1.2%) to 811.
