[Product Promotion before CNY] “2024 Macao-Guangzhou Products Fair” Kicked off Today and Attracted a Large Number of Visitors on the First Day
Before the Chinese New Year, the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute and the Guangzhou Municipal Commerce Bureau jointly hosted the “2024 Macao-Guangzhou Products Fair” at the Poly World Trade Expo Centre in Guangzhou, China, starting from today (19th) to 21st, with 123 booths and 59 Macao enterprises and 36 Guangzhou enterprises, exhibiting over a thousand types of products. As one of the best destinations for Guangzhou citizens to do shopping for the Spring Festival, the Fair attracted an endless stream of visitors on the first day due to the strong demand for Spring Festival shopping. In addition, an investment promotion seminar and business matching sessions were held to attract GBA enterprises to invest in Macao and Hengqin to explore business opportunities.

Business climate survey on restaurants & similar establishments and retail trade for November 2023
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that receipts of the interviewed restaurants & similar establishments went up by 38.5% year-on-year in November 2023; receipts of Western Restaurants and Chinese Restaurants surged by 74.7% and 52.5% respectively, whereas those of Japanese & Korean Restaurants dropped by 22.1%. Meanwhile, sales of the interviewed retailers rose by 45.7% year-on-year in November. All types of interviewed retailers registered a year-on-year increase in sales, with significant growth in the sales of Watches, Clocks & Jewellery Retailers (+78.2%), Department Stores (+73.9%), Cosmetics & Sanitary Articles Retailers (+65.8%) and Leather Goods Retailers (+58.4%).

CE: Further effort to realise first-phase goals set for Cooperation Zone
Macao will continue to work closely with the authorities on the mainland, to help realise the first-phase development goals of the Guangdong-Macao Intensive Cooperation Zone in Hengqin. The two sides would also work together to implement the Development Plan for Appropriate Economic Diversification of the Macao Special Administrative Region (2024-2028), and the city’s “1+4” industrial development strategy.
