Concerning the Public Security Police Force’s operations and the Labour Affairs Bureau’s operations as well as various joint operations against illegal workers in December 2023, the figures are set out below:


2024 Sands China Macao International 10K to be held on 17 March

Organized by the Sports Bureau, Sands China Ltd. and the General Association of Athletics of Macau (AGAM), the 2024 Sands China Macao International 10K will take place on 17 March (Sunday). The Organizing Committee held a press conference today (18 January) to announce the details and registration arrangements for the event. The press conference was attended by Mr. Pun Weng Kun, President of the Sports Bureau; Dr. Wilfred Wong, President and Executive Director of Sands China Ltd.; Mr. Chan Pou Sin, Vice President of AGAM; Ms. Christine Lam, Vice President of the Sports Bureau; and members of the Sports Committee along with other guests.



【Happy Chinese New Year】Float parades celebrate the Year of the Dragon on 3rd and 8th Days of Chinese New Year

As one of the major Chinese New Year festivities organized by Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), the “Celebrations of the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao SAR – Parade for Celebration of the Year of the Dragon 2024” will dazzle the central and northern districts on the 3rd day (12 February) and 8th day (17 February) of Chinese New Year. Encompassing float parades, cultural performances, float exhibition and more, the event will set off the destination glamour in “tourism + events”, enrich travelers’ nighttime experience and attract visitors for festive vacations in Macao, set to boost tourism spending for more robust tourism and economic development.


Review of Culture International Edition No. 73 pays tribute to Macanese writer Henrique de Senna Fernandes

2023 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Macanese writer Henrique de Senna Fernandes (1923–2010), to whom the Review of Culture (RC) dedicates issue No. 73, the last International Edition issue of the year.


22nd Macao City Fringe Festival inaugurated presenting 17 extraordinary programmes

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the 22nd Macao City Fringe Festival was inaugurated today (17 January) at the Former Iec Long Firecracker Factory. The opening ceremony was attended by the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Leong Wai Man; the Vice President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Cheang Kai Meng; the Head of Division of Performing Arts of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Chan Shuk Mei of the Cultural Affairs Bureau; and representatives of art groups participating in this year’s Fringe Festival. The participatory exhibition “Art Exhibition for All” was also inaugurated on the same day, followed by the launch of a range of programmes throughout the community, upholding the concept of “All around the city, our stages, our patrons, our artists”, while introducing audiences from all walks of life to a wider range of art creations.


Parent-child leisure and recreation space planned in second phase of South Shore Waterfront Green Promenade

To respond to the society’s demand for better utilisation of waterfront space, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) plans to construct the second phase of South Shore Waterfront Green Promenade, which covers a total area of about 60,000 square metres extending from Ponte Governador Nobre de Carvalho to Portas do Entendimento. The project design encompasses parent-child play, leisure and recreation and waterfront scenery as the three main themes of the functional zones. The project aims to provide a high-quality and large scale leisure and recreational space on the waterfront for the public. It is anticipated to begin in late 2024 and the expected work period is two years.


Four Services of FSS Launched on Business & Associations Platform

When the "Business & Associations Platform" was launched, Social Security Fund's four commonly used services for employers also went online simultaneously, including "Report new hires and employment termination" launched in cooperation with the Financial Services Bureau, "Report monthly contribution information of casual workers", "Make payments to the Social Security Fund", as well as "Enquiry about Central Provident Fund’s Employer Account".


FSS and DSF Work Together to Launch the Reporting of New Hires and Employment Termination

The Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) and Financial Services Bureau (abbreviated to DSF in Macao) launched the "Reporting of New Hires and Employment Termination" function under the “One Issue” option on the "Business & Associations Platform". Employers who need to report Salaries Tax and Obligatory System Contributions for their employees can now use the “One Issue” function on the "Business & Associations Platform" to report for one time the new hires and employment termination to two departments simultaneously, instead of visiting both departments. The reporting work for two departments can be completed at one time, anytime, anywhere.


The “Service Learning Scheme” at Macao Polytechnic University promotes students’ whole-person development

To encourage active participation in community services among university students, the Student Affairs Office of the Macao Polytechnic University organised the Service Learning Scheme which aims to encourage students to engage in the community and contribute to society. The Service Learning Scheme adopted an experiential learning approach to cultivate students’ sense of social responsibility and sense of mission. The scheme included a variety of activities such as training, theme sharing, community visits and service practice, providing support to the people and groups in the community in need and offering students valuable experiences and rewarding outcomes.
