The Macao Institute for Tourism Studies has changed its name to the Macao University of Tourism with effect from today (1 April), and its Chinese and Portuguese names to be 澳門旅遊大學 and Universidade de Turismo de Macau respectively, with the abbreviation changed to the initials UTM.

The “2024 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition” (2024MIECF) held the Green Forum: “Green Business Co-operation Day – Session 1” on the afternoon of the event’s first day (28 March). This session, comprising two panel discussions, was co-organised by the Greater Bay Area Green Finance Alliance and the Macau Association of Banks for the first time since it was held with well-known international accounting firms in the past two years. It gathered over ten experts and industry leaders from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Portuguese-speaking countries and Southeast Asian countries to probe into topics about how finance, tourism, high technology, exhibition and trade industries, namely the “1+4” key industries, incorporate ESG (environmental, social and governance) in their development. Participating guests said that setting up green and low-carbon reduction standards is beneficial for fostering the development of the “1+4” industries and achieving green, high-quality and sustainable economic development through ESG investment.

The 1^st Macao International Shorts Film Festival, jointly organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Galaxy Entertainment Group, was concluded successfully. The Festival's closing ceremony and awards ceremony was held on 29 March, where "FÁR " directed by Gunnur Martinsdóttir Schlüter was honored with the Best Short Film Award, and "BUBBLE" directed by Ellen Wong received the Best Macao Short Film.

The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) has won the honour of the first-ever “2023 Innovative Case List of Private Economic Development Environment in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area”. This award is a recognition of Macao’s business environment, especially the city’s pro-active investment promotion and optimised commercial activities in recent years. Taking the opportunity of winning this award, IPIM will intensify its efforts to publicise Macao’s advantages to attract more “1+4” industrial investment to Macao. At the same time, this award will also help cities in the Greater Bay Area to jointly tell the story of their business advantages.

The Estoril swimming pool managed by the Sports Bureau will be opened to the public starting April 1. The daily opening hours will be divided into three sessions: the first session 07:00-11:00, the second session 12:00-16:00 and the third session 17:00-22:30. Regular pool cleaning works will be carried out during the first session every Wednesday so the pool will be closed temporarily (if that Wednesday is a public holiday, the pool will remain open and the cleaning will be postponed to the following day).
