Macao-Hengqin Joint Investment with the Banking Association to Address Investment Needs of Long Enterprises in Heilongjiang
Building on the solid foundation established during high-level exchanges between Heilongjiang and Macao earlier this year, and coinciding with the “34th Harbin International Economic and Trade Fair”, the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), in collaboration with the Economic Development Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Co-operation Zone in Hengqin and the Macau Association of Banks, conducted a series of investment promotion activities in Harbin from 14 May 2025.

Press meeting with the cast of the performance Deling and Cixi
Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), the 35th Macao Arts Festival (MAF) presents a series of performances, and tickets are available through the Enjoy Macao Ticketing. The Organiser held a press meeting about the perfromance Deling and Cixi today (22 May) at the Macao Cultural Centre, in which the main cast members, Jiang Shan, Lang Ling and Xiao Yuliang, as well as the playwright, He Jiping, met with the media, sharing their thoughts and presenting the highlights of the show, and guided the media in a visit to the backstage.

UM professor receives award from American Society of Criminology
Liu Jianhong, adjunct distinguished professor in the Faculty of Law at the University of Macau (UM), has been honoured with the 2025 Thorsten Sellin & Sheldon and Eleanor Glueck Award by the American Society of Criminology (ASC) in recognition of his significant contributions to the fields of international and comparative criminology. The award not only celebrates Prof Liu’s academic achievements, but also highlights the significant influence of non-Western scholars in the field of international criminology.

Cultural Affairs Bureau instals “Cultural Macao-Macao Pavilion” in the China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair
The 21st China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF) is being held at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Centre from 22 to 26 May 2025. The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from its Portuguese acronym) is participating with the “Cultural Macao‧Macao Pavilion”, sponsored by MGM, to showcase Macao’s unique cultural heritage, intangible cultural heritage preservation, cultural events and performances, and cultural creativity.

Intermittent interruption of certain electronic services due to maintenance of IAM information system
The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) will carry out maintenance of the information system from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on 24 May 2025. During the period, certain electronic services will be interrupted intermittently. The public are advised to pay attention to the arrangement.

Blessing ceremony held for 2025 SJM Macao International Dragon Boat Races
Organized by the Sports Bureau, SJM Resorts, S.A. and the Dragon Boat Association of Macao, China, and co-organized by the Municipal Affairs Bureau and the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau, the 2025 SJM Macao International Dragon Boat Races are set to take place on 24, 25 and 31 May at Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre. A blessing ceremony was held by the Organizing Committee at the same venue today (22 May) to pray for the success of this annual event.

Health statistics 2024
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that there were 2,030 registered doctors (+50 year-on-year), 732 Chinese medicine doctors/Chinese herbalists (+4), 304 dentists/odontologists (-2) and 3,058 nurses (+78) in Macao at the end of 2024. There were 2.9 doctors, 1.1 Chinese medicine doctors/Chinese herbalists, 0.4 dentists/odontologists and 4.4 nurses per 1,000 population, similar to the figures in 2023.

Survey on manpower needs and wages for the first quarter of 2025 – financial activities
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that there were 8,484 full-time employees in Financial Activities at the end of the first quarter of 2025, down by 81 (-0.9%) year-on-year. Among them, those engaged in the Banking Sector (7,193) decreased by 53 (-0.7%) year-on-year, while those engaged in Insurance Activities (821) increased by 9 (+1.1%).
