Retail sales survey for the first quarter of 2025

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the value of retail sales decreased by 15% year-on-year to MOP17.58 billion in the first quarter of 2025.


Visitor arrivals for April 2025

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that visitor arrivals increased by 18.9% year-on-year to 3,092,791 in April 2025. Same-day visitors (1,755,592) and overnight visitors (1,337,199) rose by 30.1% and 6.9% year-on-year respectively. Meanwhile, the average length of stay of visitors decreased by 0.1 day year-on-year to 1.1 days, due to the growth in the proportion of same-day visitors in the total number of visitors. The duration of stay for same-day visitors (0.2 day) and overnight visitors (2.3 days) both remained unchanged.



Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area—Africa (Egypt) Economic and Trade Co-operation Conference Held in Cairo 30 Co-operation Agreements Signed Between Greater Bay Area and African Enterprises

The "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area—Africa (Egypt) Economic and Trade Co-operation Conference" was held on 19 May in Cairo. The event was jointly organised by the People’s Government Guangdong Province, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, and the Macao Special Administrative Region Government. During the event, 30 co-operation agreements were signed between Greater Bay Area and African enterprises, covering various fields including home appliances, infrastructure, and logistics.

The event facilitated in-depth exchange between the travel trade from both sides to expand Macao’s reach into Southeast Asia and international visitor markets.


UM’s Portuguese Language Summer Programme now open for applications

The 39th Portuguese Language Summer Programme, organised by the Department of Portuguese of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Macau (UM), is now open for applications. The application deadline is 20 June, and all interested individuals are welcome to apply. The summer programme is a key project of UM’s initiative to nurture bilingual talent.



Completed application form for nomination committee regarding Legislative Assembly Election should be submitted at earliest opportunity

The Electoral Affairs Commission for the Legislative Assembly Election today issued a reminder that 6 June is the deadline for submitting an application form for the endorsement of a nomination committee. That relates to endorsement of those intending to form a nomination committee and run for the Legislative Assembly Election, which is to be held on 14 September.


Company statistics for the first quarter of 2025

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 913 new companies were incorporated and 186 companies were dissolved in the first quarter of 2025, which represented a net increase of 727 in the number of companies.


MPU Publishes Vol. 53 of the Journal of One Country Two Systems Studies

The new issue of the Journal of One Country Two Systems Studies (Vol. 53) edited by the “One Country Two Systems” Research Centre of Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) has just been published. There are 12 articles in this issue. The Journal of One Country Two Systems Studies aims at giving the public an insight into the “One Country, Two Systems” policy and establishing an academic platform for the study of “One Country, Two Systems”. Local and overseas scholars are welcome to contribute to the journal so as to enhance academic cooperation and exchanges.
