Macao Selected as the “Best Destination for Annual Meetings” at the APCAC Annual Meeting Awards
After Macao was selected as “Brilliant Star” MICE Outstanding Destination in early April this year, Macao was awarded again as the “Best Destination for Annual Meetings” in the “APCAC Annual Meeting Awards”, which were conducted in the first “Asia-Pacific Corporate Annual Conference Expo” (APCAC) held in Shenzhen from May 15 to 16, where approximately 100 organisations and well-known companies with the potential to host annual meetings cast their votes. The participating companies were from industries such as investment, technology, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, logistics, finance, tourism, and consulting.

First phase of restoration works on the bronze statues of the façade of the Ruins of St. Paul’s and installation of a lightning protection system
In order to strengthen the protection of the Ruins of St. Paul’s and improve its resilience against natural disasters, the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Public Works Bureau will conduct the first phase of restoration and maintenance works on the bronze statues of this monument and the installation of a lightning protection system, from 27 May until the end of June. In order to ensure public safety and carry out the installation of the necessary scaffolding, the Ruins of St. Paul’s (including the area of the VR exhibition “Visiting the Ruins of St. Paul’s in Space and Time” – Exhibition of Virtual Reality at the Ruins of St. Paul’s and the Museum of Sacred Art and Crypt) will be temporarily closed to the public at certain times. During the execution of these works, in the aforementioned time period, there will be barricades temporarily installed in the forecourt area and on the staircase of the Ruins of St. Paul’s, separating the intervention area from the public. Draw and technical meeting held for local races of the 2025 SJM Macao International Dragon Boat Races
Organized by the Sports Bureau, SJM Resorts, S.A. and the Dragon Boat Association of Macao, China, and co-organized by the Municipal Affairs Bureau and the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau, the 2025 SJM Macao International Dragon Boat Races are set to take place on 24, 25, and 31 May at Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre. The Organizing Committee convened the draw and technical meeting for the local races today (16 May).

UM Congregation to be held on 24 May
The University of Macau (UM) will hold the Congregation 2025 at 4:00pm on 24 May (Saturday) in the UM Sports Complex (N8) to present graduation certificates to bachelor’s degree graduates. AACM hosted aviation security quality control workshop to enhance industry training and promote regional exchange

Task Force for Guangdong-Macao Food Safety Cooperation visits Guangdong to deepen exchanges in food safety
With the aim of actively promoting the cooperation and exchange in food safety area between Macao and the Greater Bay Area cities, under the “Framework Agreement on Exchange and Cooperation in Food Safety for Macao and Guangdong”, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) and the Guangdong Administration for Market Regulation jointly organised a Guangdong-Macao food safety exchange activity in Jiangmen, Guangdong in early May. Through seminar and site visits, the communication of food safety information among the regions is enhanced to strengthen food safety supervision.

MICE statistics for the first quarter of 2025
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that number of MICE events rose by 22.9% (+77) year-on-year to 413 in the first quarter of 2025, and the total number of participants & attendees grew by 3.7% to 188,000.
