Results of construction sector survey 2022
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that Receipts of the Construction Sector decreased by 13.5% year-on-year to MOP48.93 billion in 2022; of which, Receipts from Construction Works Performed (MOP47.6 billion) declined by 13.8% due to a drop in receipts from private construction projects. Expenditure of the sector amounted to MOP44.16 billion, down by 14.4% year-on-year. Gross Surplus reduced by 3.8% to MOP4.78 billion. Gross Value Added that measures the sectoral contribution to the economy fell by 2.1% to MOP14.37 billion. Gross Fixed Capital Formation totalled MOP172 million, down by 31.2% year-on-year.

Foreign exchange reserves and nominal effective exchange rate index for the pataca – September 2023
The Monetary Authority of Macao announced today (16 October) that the preliminary estimate of Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves amounted to MOP220.1 billion (USD27.30 billion) at the end of September 2023. The reserves decreased by 0.2% from the revised value of MOP220.5 billion (USD27.29 billion) for the previous month. Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves at end-September 2023 represented 11 times the currency in circulation or 88.4% of pataca M2 at end-August 2023.

Macao Polytechnic University hosted “Annual Conference on Tourism and Entertainment Technology Innovation 2023”
To foster Macao's development as a world centre of tourism and leisure, and to enhance Macao’s ‘1+4’ Diversified Development Strategy, the “Annual Conference on Tourism and Entertainment Technology Innovation 2023”, supported by Macao Polytechnic University and the Macao Government Tourism Office, was held at the university’s auditorium on the 27th of September 2023. The conference brought together seventeen organizations and industry representatives in tourism, leisure and entertainment enterprises, technology startups, entertainment equipment technology companies, technology and internet associations, among others. The conference focus was on topics including “New Thinking of Tourism Products and Services under Tourism 1+4 Policy”, “Gaming Technology Industry: Upgrading of High-End Experiences”, “Metaverse: Enter into Digital Tourism”, all aiming to collectively assist in upgrading Macao’s tourism and entertainment service industry, and maintaining the trend of high value and sustainable healthy development in the industry. Nearly two hundred professionals from related fields, as well as students from Macao Polytechnic University, attended the conference, allowing for enthusiastic exchanges.

MPU’s Centre for Gaming and Tourism Studies Held Seminar on New Technologies and Casino Surveillance
The Centre for Gaming and Tourism Studies at Macao Polytechnic University, in collaboration with the Macao Association of Young Employees in the Gaming Industry, recently organized a special seminar entitled “The Impacts and Challenges of New Technologies on Casino Surveillance”. The seminar featured presentations by Associate Professor Dr. Tang Su Kit from Macao Polytechnic University, as well as industry experts Dr. Manson Yip and Mr. Chris Fong. The event attracted industry professionals, graduate students specializing in gaming and recreation management, researchers and educators.
