CE hopes Macanese community can accurately grasp opportunities of our times

[2024 Online Training Sessions Launched] IPIM Invites Experts to Share New Ideas for Developing International Exhibition Brands

The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) launched an online training on exhibition trends today (26th), which was the first of its kind in the new year. Themed on “The Importance of Participating in International Professional Exhibition Associations”, three industry experts who had held important positions in international convention and exhibition associations were invited to share their experiences with 54 industry representatives at home and abroad. The topics of online training session were about how convention and exhibition destination management companies, integrated resorts, and venue suppliers make good use of international exhibition professional associations to establish their professional images, elevate their influence and explore more business and co-operation opportunities.



Package tours and hotel occupancy rate for December and the whole year of 2023

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 142 hotel establishments offered accommodation services to the public at the end of 2023, an increase of 19 year-on-year. Total number of available guest rooms grew by 23.5% to 47,000. For the whole year of 2023, the average occupancy rate of guest rooms of hotel establishments went up by 43.1 percentage points year-on-year to 81.5%; the rates for 2-star (85.1%) and 5-star hotels (82.5%) were relatively high, which showed respective growth of 36.3 percentage points and 48.3 percentage points.


[Facilitating 1+4 Industries’ Expansion] IPIM Macao Ideas Website Is Now Equipped with VR Display to Promote Macao’s Products

The website (https://macaoideas.ipim.gov.mo/) of Macao Ideas has been upgraded recently. Macao Ideas is an exhibition centre established by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) to promote “Made in Macao”, “Macao Brand” and “Macao Design” products, it currently exhibits around 1,700 products from over 100 Macao enterprises. In additional to the website’s original multi-media contents, the online Virtual Reality (VR) display have been launched, and the keyword search function and social networking site sharing function have been optimised, it enables domestic and overseas traders to obtain information about Macao’s products in one stop.


FSS Encourages the Use of Electronic Methods to Provide the Proof of Life for the Year

In 2024, there are approximately 159,000 pension or disability pension beneficiaries who need to provide the proof of life to the Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao). Currently, about 139,000 people have already provided the proof, of which 118,000 have done it electronically, accounting for about 85%. The FSS encourages beneficiaries who have not provided the proof of life to use electronic methods such as the "Macao One Account" which is time-saving and convenient.


MGTO and Macao travel trade attend Halal event in Hong Kong eying Islamic visitors to diversify international source markets as part of “1+4” development strategy

A Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and Macao travel trade delegation is participating in a Halal related exhibition held in Hong Kong, to enhance the know-how and industry connections to expand the food and other offerings to cater for Islamic visitors from Southeast Asia, the Middle East and other destinations, as part of the work to attract more international visitors.



UM organises science activity for secondary students to enhance their laboratory skills

The Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) of the University of Macau (UM) organised the 7th instalment of its science popularisation activity ‘The Pursuit of Research’ for local secondary school students. The activity provided an opportunity for students to conduct health science-related experiments, allowing them to experience the fun of scientific research and enhance their practical laboratory skills.


IAM introduces second phase of South Shore Waterfront Green Promenade to associations and continues to collect opinions for further project design

The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) plans to construct the second phase of South Shore Waterfront Green Promenade, which covers a total area of about 60,000 square metres extending from Ponte Governador Nobre de Carvalho to Portas do Entendimento, so as to provide a high-quality and large scale waterfront leisure and recreational space for the public. IAM recently introduced the mentioned project proposal to the Consultative Committee on Municipal Affairs of IAM, the Community Service Consultative Councils of three districts, multiple associations and relevant professional sectors respectively and listened to their opinions. The attendees generally agreed with the project and believed that the variety of functional zones can provide more high-quality leisure and play space for the public.
