UM SKL-IOTSC holds academic committee meeting

The State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City (SKL-IOTSC) of the University of Macau (UM) held the first meeting of its second academic committee. Experts and scholars attended the meeting to discuss the development and future direction of the laboratory.


Macao’s composite interest rates – 2nd Quarter 2024

According to statistics released today (23 August) by the Monetary Authority of Macao, funding costs of the banking sector in Macao generally retreated in the second quarter of 2024.


Consumer price index (CPI) for July 2024

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the Composite CPI for July 2024 rose by 0.82% year-on-year. Among the various sections of goods and services, the price indices of Education (+5.03%), Miscellaneous Goods & Services (+2.60%) and Health (+2.28%) saw notable year-on-year growth. In addition, the price indices of Food & Non-Alcoholic Beverages (+0.91%) and Housing & Fuels (+0.60%) went up owing to higher charges for eating out, rising rentals for dwellings and dearer prices of liquefied petroleum gas. On the other hand, the price indices of Transport (-1.53%) and Household Furnishings & Services (-0.19%) dropped. The CPI-A and CPI-B recorded respective growth of 0.79% and 0.87% year-on-year.

The registration period for the exchange of four previously issued Zodiac banknotes terminating next Friday (30 August)

The online registration period for the exchange of four previously issued Zodiac Banknotes (including the Rat, Ox, Tiger and Rabbit Zodiac Banknotes) will end at 6:00pm on 30 August 2024 (Friday). The Monetary Authority of Macao would like to remind those citizens who are interested in exchanging for the said banknotes to complete the registration process as soon as possible.

The 42nd Macao Young Musicians Competition Concludes Successfully with Lam Cheok Seng and Wang Iat Ham winning the Cultural Affairs Bureau Prize

The Special Prizes Competition and awards ceremony of the 42nd Macao Young Musicians Competition organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) was held at the Seac Pai Van Public School on 15 August. At the event, 20 Special Prizes in “Chinese Instrumental” and “Western Instrumental / Vocal” categories were presented by Vice President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau , Cheong Lai San; Head of the Department of Performing Arts Development of the Cultural Affairs Bureau , Kuok Mio U; and the judges of the Special Prizes Competition, namely the conductors Dai Luqing, Gay En Hui, Huang Kuang-Yu, OuYang Hui-Kang, Lo Hau Man, and Francis Kan.
