Mount Fortress Garden transformed into a distinctive night-time scenic spot presenting festive activities and a light show
Jointly organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) and Melco Resorts & Entertainment, the “Mount Fortress in the Moonlight – Special Event for the Mid-Autumn Festival for the Public” will be held from 29 September to 1 October at the Mount Fortress Garden, presenting various music performances and a light show for residents and tourists. On 29 September, the event features handicraft workshops, lantern riddles and game booths dedicated to the theme of Mid-Autumn Festival, as well as festive lighting installations and special snacks, transforming the Mount Fortress Garden into a distinctive cultural attraction through an array of activities and leisure experiences, celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival with the public.

UM, Sun Yat-sen University co-organise first Asia-Pacific Marketing Academy Conference
The University of Macau (UM) and Sun Yat-sen University co-organised the First Asia-Pacific Marketing Academy Conference. More than 400 representatives from over 100 mainland and international universities participated in the event. In addition, the paper co-authored by UM and Tsinghua University won a first prize at the conference.

IAM continuously carries out tree pruning work in parks and gardens to ensure public safety
To maintain the environment in parks and ensure public safety, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) will launch tree pruning work in the parks and gardens in various districts in mid-October. The pruning work involves nine parks and gardens in the districts of Macao and Taipa. The public are advised to pay attention and follow the on-site instructions during the work period to avoid the occurrence of accidents.

GIF presented ML-related risk assessment to the accounting professional
In order to continue enhancing the professional knowledge of Macao’s accounting sector in the field of anti-money laundering/combating the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT), the Director of the Financial Intelligence Office (GIF) was invited by the Professional Committee of Accountants of Macao and the Macau Institute of Management as the keynote speaker at the course “Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Risk Assessment in the Accounting Sector” on 22nd September 2023.

Transport and communications statistics for August 2023
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that licensed motor vehicles in Macao totalled 250,596 as at end-August 2023, up by 1.2% year-on-year; light automobiles (115,090) and heavy motorcycles (109,053) rose by 1.5% and 2.0% respectively. New registration of motor vehicles in August went up by 3.6% year-on-year to 1,062 (220 were electric vehicles); of which, light automobiles increased by 34.7% to 532 (130 of them were electric), whereas heavy motorcycles dropped by 23.7% to 463 (53 of them were electric). From January to August 2023, new registration of motor vehicles grew by 27.4% year-on-year to 7,944. Number of traffic accidents in August climbed by 25.0% year-on-year to 1,139, with 402 persons injured. In the first eight months of 2023, there were 8,748 traffic accidents, which resulted in 5 deaths and 3,047 injuries.
