Logistics expert Lee Hau Leung gives talk at UM on Supply Chain Renaissance
The University of Macau (UM) held a Doctor honoris causa Lecture today (25 March). Lee Hau Leung, honorary doctor of UM and world-renowned expert in logistics and supply chain management, gave a talk titled ‘Supply Chain Renaissance’ to discuss the great challenges and opportunities the COVID-19 outbreak has brought to global supply chain management. The talk was well attended by UM students and faculty, as well as industry practitioners and prominent members of the community.

Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences to give talk at UM on virus-host interaction
The University of Macau (UM) will hold a talk titled ‘Virus-Host Interaction: Targets for Vaccines and Drug Discoveries’ on Wednesday 27 March as part of the Seminar Series of Ministry of Education Frontiers Science Center for Precision Oncology, UM. Gao Fu, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), international member of the US National Academy of Sciences, and professor in the Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, will be the speaker. During the talk, he will discuss the importance of studying the mechanisms of virus-host interaction and developing vaccines and antiviral drugs to prevent and control pandemic diseases. All are welcome to attend the talk.

President of the Portuguese-Speaking Higher Education Forum (FORGES) Visited MPU
Margarida Mano, President of the Portuguese-Speaking Higher Education Forum (FORGES) and Vice-Rector of the Catholic University of Portugal, visited Macao Polytechnic University on March 6, to enhance international exchange and cooperation and leverage Macao’s role as a platform between China and Portugal. She was warmly received by Im Sio Kei, MPU’s Rector, and they had extensive and pleasant discussions on various topics, including the forthcoming 14th FORGES Seminar on Higher Education Management to be hosted by MPU in November this year.

MPU Builds Chinese-Portuguese Interpretation Corpus to Promote Development of Industries
The Master of Chinese-Portuguese Translation and Interpreting Programme of MPU, based on its excellence in teaching and research, has established a Chinese-Portuguese interpreting corpus to provide professional resources for Chinese-Portuguese interpreter training and for the cultivation of high-end Chinese-Portuguese bilinguals of compound talents for Macao. It is a result of Macao’s implementing “The Second Five-Year Plan”, “1+4” strategy for continuous development of economic diversification, and the talent cultivation mode of “language +”.

【Unlock Macao Educational Tour】40 Hong Kong middle school students tour around Macao and experience “tourism +”
Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) partners with South China Morning Post (SCMP) from Hong Kong to lead another educational tour of the “Macau Unlocked: A Journey of Discovery for Students 2023 – 2024”, organized by Young Post of SCMP. Following the first tour joined by high school students last month, the second group, comprising 40 middle school students from Hong Kong, joined the educational tour to Macao on 23 March last Saturday for an experience of Macao’s culture and science as well as diverse elements of “tourism + learning”. Their visit propels Macao’s reach out to more diverse market segments.
