International platform showcases culinary glamour – exchange culminates in Macao for nearly half of Creative Cities of Gastronomy from worldwide

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) invited the representatives and chefs from 23 UNESCO Creative Cities of Gastronomy including Macao for familiarization, exchange and culinary demonstrations in Macao in the past three days. They participated in the City of Gastronomy Showcase and visited local wet markets and distinctive bazaars, besides joining internal meeting, which fostered preservation, innovation and exchange among Creative Cities of Gastronomy. Their exchange reinforced gastronomy as an impetus for the cities’ sustainable development and showed Macao’s strengths as an international exchange platform.


CCAC completes investigation of active bribery case by a PhD Student of University of Macau

The CCAC received a real-name report from a professor of the University of Macau, who claimed that his PhD student attempted to offer bribes with the intention that his thesis proposal to be submitted prior to thesis writing would be passed and he would graduate successfully.



Black Box Theatre of the Macao Cultural Centre inaugurated Expanding the performing platform for local young art practitioners

In order to provide a quality training and performance space for local young art practitioners and further promote the cultural and performing art development for the young, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from its Portuguese acronym) initiated the design and layout planning of the Black Box Theatre of the Macao Cultural Centre in 2020, and the Black Box Theatre was completed this April. The opening ceremony was held today (3 July) and was officiated by the Chief Executive, Ho Iat Seng; the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Ao Ieong U; the Chief of Office of the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Ho Ioc San; the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Leong Wai Man; the Director of the Public Works Bureau, Lam Wai Hou; and the architect of the Black Box Theatre of the Macao Cultural Centre, António Bruno Soares. The Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng, accompanied by the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Ao Ieong U, presided over the opening ceremony and announced the official opening of the Black Box Theatre of the Macao Cultural Centre.



Do not click on links unknown and safeguard your instant messaging accounts from being compromised

Lately, the Judiciary Police (PJ) has discovered that offenders randomly send SMS messages embedded with unknown links. The message claims victim’s instant messaging (IM) account is restricted because of a user policy violation and advises the victim to click on the embedded link to resolve the issue. The linked website is a phishing website designed to resemble the official website to lure the victim into supplying his or her account number, verification code, etc. The culprit can then gain control of the account.


UM holds Big Data Analytics in Law Enforcement Symposium

The University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) held the inaugural Big Data Analytics in Law Enforcement Symposium to provide an academic platform for senior law enforcement officers in Macao and Hong Kong to exchange views in state-of-the-art research findings and practical experiences informed by empirical evidence.


UM releases revised Macroeconomic Forecast for Macao 2023

The University of Macau (UM) Centre for Macau Studies and Department of Economics released the revised version of the Macroeconomic Forecast for Macao 2023. After several months of observation and analysis of Macao’s economy in the past several months, the research team adjusted its assumptions on visitor arrivals and forecasted that the number of visitor arrivals to Macao will remain relatively stable in 2023. Based on this, the research team revised the economic forecast released at the beginning of the year: Macao’s economy will grow by 47.0% in 2023; exports of services will surge by 101.2%; the inflation rate will be 1.2%; the overall unemployment rate will be 2.6% while the unemployment rate of residents will be 3.3%; and the current revenue of the Macao SAR government is expected to be MOP 76.5 billion.



July is a Contribution Month, FSS Encourages the Use of “Macao One Account” for Making the Payments

July is the contribution month of the second quarter of 2023 for the Social Security System. Employers may use the “Macao One Account” to pay obligatory system contributions for employees whose employment situation has no change or whose employment information has been reported through the Electronic Filing System, as well as to pay the employment fee for non-resident workers. Beneficiaries of the arbitrary system may also pay contributions through the “Macao One Account” within this month.
