Private sector construction and real estate transactions for the 2nd quarter of 2023
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 1,368 building units and parking spaces were purchased and sold in the second quarter of 2023 as per Stamp Duty record, and the total value of transactions was MOP7.44 billion, up by 13.3% and 7.4% respectively quarter-to-quarter. Purchase and sale of residential units increased by 30 quarter-to-quarter to 878 units, and the total value went up by 3.4% to MOP5.78 billion. Number of existing residential units transacted (831 units) decreased by 1.4% and the transaction value (MOP5.48 billion) fell by 1.6%. On the other hand, transaction volume (47 units) and value (MOP 302 million) of pre-sale residential units surged by 840.0% and 1,018.5% respectively quarter-to-quarter.

Entry registration of 70th Macau Grand Prix

The 2023 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition (2023MIECF) will be held from 17 to 20 August. One of the highlight activities, “Green Business Co-operation Day: Green Forum Session 1”, will be staged at 2:30pm on the first day of the event (17 August) at the Sicily Meeting Room in the Venetian Macao. Building on last year’s co-operation achievements, the Green Forum will be co-organised by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) once again under the theme of “Green x Innovation x Business Opportunities – Empowering the Sustainable Development of Bleisure Tourism”. Evening concerts at Lai Chi Vun Shipyards in August present lively and poetic melodies
In order to promote public appreciation and participation in culture and arts, as well as to build more performance platforms for local artistic and cultural practitioners, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) will hold evening concerts at Lai Chi Vun Shipyards in the second half of each month, between July and November, gathering musicians from various regions and different languages to present a variety of musical performances in different music genres and promote exchanges. The concert “lively and poetic melodies” will be held at 4pm on 19 August. Admission is free. Residents and tourists are welcome to participate.

Visitor arrivals for July 2023
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that visitor arrivals grew by 24.9% month-on-month to 2,759,544 in July 2023; besides, the figure represented a surge of 28,176.9% year-on-year, mainly due to an increase in visitors as well as a relatively low base of comparison in July last year. Overnight visitors (1,431,681) and same-day visitors (1,327,863) soared by 55,607.4% and 18,370.8% year-on-year respectively. Meanwhile, the average length of stay of visitors dropped by 7.0 days year-on-year to 1.3 days; the duration for overnight visitors (2.3 days) decreased by 23.1 days year-on-year, while that for same-day visitors (0.3 day) went up by 0.2 day.

Business climate survey on restaurants & similar establishments and retail trade for June 2023
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that receipts of the interviewed restaurants & similar establishments surged by 104.5% year-on-year in June 2023. All types of interviewed establishments registered a year-on-year rise in receipts, with receipts of Western Restaurants (+164.3%), Chinese Restaurants (+146.7%) and Local Style Cafes, Congee & Noodle Shops (+90.1%) showing notable growth. In addition, sales of the interviewed retailers rose by 80.6% year-on-year in June. Sales of Department Stores, Watches, Clocks & Jewellery Retailers, Leather Goods Retailers and Adults' Clothing Retailers increased by over 100%, whereas only the sales of Supermarkets (-14.2%) decreased.
