Residents who Go to Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin since March of Last Year can Make a Request to the FSS for Considering the Relevant Period as Time in Macao

The Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) stated that since 1 March 2023, residents’ original place of habitual residence is in Macao and have gone to Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin (hereinafter referred to as the "In-Depth Cooperation Zone") to study, work, start a business, live, etc., their time in the In-Depth Cooperation Zone can be deemed as the time in Macao according to regulations. When residents need to apply for enrollment in the Arbitrary System, or claim their right to be included in the government allocation list for the Non-Mandatory Central Provident Fund, they can make a request to the FSS to recalculate their time in Macao. ​


Registration for 2024 Sands China Macao International 10K to start this weekend

The 2024 Sands China Macao International 10K, organized by the Sports Bureau, Sands China Ltd. and the General Association of Athletics of Macau (AGAM), will take place on 17 March. Registration will be open from 9:00 a.m. on 3 February (Saturday) for the 10K, and from 9:00 a.m. on 4 February (Sunday) for the Fun Run. Places available for this year’s event include 7,000 for the 10K and 3,000 for the Fun Run. Places are limited for each category and registration will be closed when all places are filled.



UM exhibition on French Impressionism to showcase 130 masterpieces

The opening ceremony of the exhibition titled ‘With The Sunshine, Across The Sea: From French Impressionism to Landscape Paintings of Macao’ will be held on Friday 2 February at 4:00pm in the exhibition hall on the first floor of the Museum of Art of the University of Macau (UM). The exhibition will feature works by masters such as Théodore Géricault, Claude Monet, and Gustave Courbet. A talk titled ‘Scenery Under the Visions of West and East’ will also be held on the same day. Interested individuals are welcome to attend.




External merchandise trade Statistics for December and the whole year of 2023

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that external merchandise trade totalled MOP154.78 billion in 2023, up by 0.9% from MOP153.33 billion in 2022. In 2023, total value of merchandise export dropped by 1.3% year-on-year to MOP13.34 billion, of which value of domestic exports (MOP1.55 billion) declined by 23.2% while value of re-exports (MOP11.79 billion) grew by 2.5%. Total value of merchandise import rose by 1.2% year-on-year to MOP141.44 billion. Merchandise trade deficit totalled MOP128.11 billion in 2023, up by MOP1.82 billion from MOP126.29 billion in 2022.

【Widen international markets】MGTO launches special offer of free ferry and bus tickets from 1 February for international visitors in Hong Kong to extend journey to Macao

By different schemes and initiatives, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) strives to tap into various international visitor markets. Starting on 1 February, the Office will partner with the Hong Kong-Macao ferry and bus operators to launch the special offer of free ferry and direct bus tickets from Hong Kong to Macao for international visitors (from beyond the Greater China region) who arrive in Hong Kong. The offer aims to attract more international visitors to Macao for the colorful experience in “tourism +”, to expand the diversity of visitor source markets for more robust tourism and economic development.
