UM students and faculty produce short film to raise mental health awareness

Students and faculty from Moon Chun Memorial College (MCMC) of the University of Macau (UM) have produced a short film titled The Invisible Self to raise public awareness about mental health. Film screenings and post-screening sharing sessions are being held in several local secondary schools, the first of which was held at Colégio Mateus Ricci and attracted the participation of nearly 600 students and teachers.


Residential property price index for September – November 2023

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the overall residential property price index for September - November 2023 was 235.5, down by 1.8% over the previous period (August - October 2023). The indices for the Macao Peninsula (233.5) and Taipa & Coloane (243.3) dropped by 1.4% and 3.3% respectively.


January is a Contribution Month, FSS Encourages the Use of “Macao One Account” for Making Payment

January is the contribution month for the fourth quarter of 2023 for the Social Security System. Employers may use the “Macao One Account” to pay obligatory system contributions for employees whose employment situation has no change or whose employment information has been reported through the Electronic Filing System, as well as the employment fee for non-resident workers. Beneficiaries of the arbitrary system may also pay contributions through the “Macao One Account” within this month.


IFTM Open Day received an overwhelming response

As the Joint Admission Examination for Macao Four Higher Education Institutions (JAE) is currently open for application, the Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (IFTM) held its 2024 Open Day at the Mong-Há Campus this afternoon (7 January) with a series of fun-filled activities attracting many senior high school students and respective parents who were interested to learn more about the campus environment and the characteristics of the programmes, in order to plan for their further studies’ development path.


MPU's 2024 Open Day showcased outstanding teaching and research achievements with enthusiastic response

The “Macao Polytechnic University Open Day 2024” was held on 6 January and has showcased the characteristics of the University’s educational approach, information on degree programmes, achievements in teaching and research, social services, and achievements as a result of international cooperation. This was done through a series of activities such as degree programme seminars, guidance sessions for further studies, thematic exhibitions, campus tours, workshops, experiential sessions as well as exchange sessions with graduates. The Open Day has attracted nearly 3000 participants, including recent high school graduates, elites, students and parents, making a very lively event.


22nd Macao City Fringe Festival continues to present “Art Exhibition for All” and various programmes leading the public to find the source of happiness

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), the 22nd Macao City Fringe Festival will be held from 17 to 28 January, featuring 17 extraordinary programmes and a series of outreach activities. Upholding the concept of “All around the city, our stages, our patrons, our artists”, this year’s Fringe Festival will continue to present the participatory exhibition “Art Exhibition for All” at the Former Iec Long Firecracker Factory and the Areia Preta Urban Park (near the Areia Preta Health Centre), providing the public a platform to showcase their creative works. Interested parties are welcome to submit their artworks before 12 January or improvise on the spot.


Macao Polytechnic University International Examination Seminar 2024 held on January 6

Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) continues to expand international and national examination and certification services and offer various types of continuing education courses, establishes an examination and certification centre in Macao, supports the “1+4” moderate economic diversification of Macao, and provides a series of international examinations and tests. MPU holds the “International Examination Seminar 2024” on January 6. Candidates from Macao and the Great Bay Area are welcome to attend.


Online Book Shop of the Cultural Affairs Bureau launches new “bulk purchase offer”

Since its launch by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), the Online Book Shop has been well received by local and overseas readers. In order to promote a reading atmosphere and in appreciation of readers’ support, the Online Book Shop will launch new “bulk purchase offer” from 5 January 2024, providing different discounts based on the quantity of books purchased. Readers may enjoy a 10% discount when purchasing two books, a 15% discount when purchasing three or four books, and a 20% discount when purchasing five or more books.


IAM continues to treat endangered ancient tree in Avenida do Conselheiro Ferreira de Almeida

The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) continues to follow up on the condition of an endangered camphor tree in Avenida do Conselheiro Ferreira de Almeida. Although healing measures such as using medication, pruning to control the height and treatment were taken in recent months, the growth condition of the tree has not improved. Currently, the leaves in the tree crown have all withered and there are signs of disease and pest infestation. IAM will continue to monitor the tree. A notice has been affixed next to the tree to remind the public to pay attention when they walk past the tree to ensure safety.
