Selection results of the Local Curatorial Project for Art Macao are announced Exhibition of the selected proposals to be held from September
“Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2023” (hereinafter referred to as “Art Macao 2023”) will be held this summer. Under the patronage of the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture of the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region, the event is organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau and co-organised by the Macao Government Tourism Office, Galaxy Entertainment Group, Melco Resorts & Entertainment Limited, MGM, Sands China Ltd., SJM RESORTS, LIMITED and Wynn Macau, Limited. The selection results of the “Local Curatorial Project” in this event have been announced recently, and the four selected proposals are “The Revelations for X” (temporary name) proposed by MyLand Culture, “The Typhoon of Destiny” proposed by the “ART YIIMA” art group, “Synchronicity - Topology of Mind” proposed by Alice Kok, and “The Secret of The Golden Flower” proposed by Chang Chan. These four inspirational proposals will be transformed into four exhibitions, each to be held for a period of no shorter than eight weeks between September and November.

[In Line with “1+4” Appropriate Diversification Development Strategy] “2023 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition” to Be Held in Mid-August
The “2023 Macao International Environmental Co-operation Forum & Exhibition” (2023MIECF) will be held from 17 to 20 August 2023 (Thursday to Sunday). This year’s event will be extended from three days to four days and will be held under the theme of “Building an Ecological Civilisation Through Innovative Initiatives”, with highlights including the continuation of the professional exhibition on achieving “carbon neutrality”. Complementing the SAR Government’s “1+4” appropriate diversification development strategy, the event will focus on the four major industries to further promote the joint development of Macao and Hengqin, and will join hands with the professional sectors and invite prominent figures in global environmental sectors to act as keynote speakers to innovate in international co-operation and lead green development through a series of activities, namely Green Showcase, Green Forum, Green Matching and Green Public Day.

Tourist price index (TPI) for the 2nd quarter of 2023
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the Tourist Price Index (TPI) for the second quarter of 2023 rose by 19.47% year-on-year to 137.24. The increase was mainly attributable to rising hotel room rates and dearer prices of local food products. Among the various sections of goods and services, price index of Accommodation soared by 150.74% year-on-year, and the indices of Entertainment & Cultural Activities (+17.06%) and Clothing & Footwear (+7.07%) also increased.

Foreign exchange reserves and nominal effective exchange rate index for the pataca – June 2023
The Monetary Authority of Macao announced today that the preliminary estimate of Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves amounted to MOP215.7 billion (USD26.72 billion) at the end of June 2023. The reserves decreased by 0.9% from the revised value of MOP217.8 billion (USD26.98 billion) for the previous month. Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves at end-June 2023 represented 10 times the currency in circulation or 86.2% of pataca M2 at end-May 2023.

Over 3,700 takeaway establishments issued with registration certificates and 5 prosecuted for violating regulations
The “Registration System for Establishments of Takeaway Activities” has entered into force since 15 November 2021. Until 30 June this year, there are 3,776 registered takeaway establishments which are in operation in Macao, and prosecution has been initiated against 5 takeaway establishments for violations of the registration system. The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) again reminds the sector that takeaway establishments must be issued with the registration certificate before opening for business, and the registration information must be displayed to the public. Consumers may also view the list of registered takeaway establishments on the website of Food Safety Information for choosing to patronise those that are regulated and for protecting their own interests.

IFTM delivers tourism training workshop for the tourism officials from the Portuguese-speaking Countries
The Global Centre for Tourism Education and Training of the Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (IFTM) successfully hosted a training workshop for the tourism officials from the Portuguese-speaking countries, as part of an initiative by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), on 3 and 4 July 2023 on the theme “Capacity Building for Sustainable Tourism Planning, Food & Beverage and Events”.
