Deputy Consul General of Belgium in Hong Kong visited MPU
The Deputy Consul General of Belgium in Hong Kong, Eva Morre, visited the Macao Polytechnic University on 5th May and was welcomed by the Vice-Rector of MPU, Dr. Vivian Lei, and other MPU members. The two sides exchanged views on higher education cooperation, student exchanges and academic collaboration projects between Macao and Belgium.

60 shop units at Macau New Neighbourhood in Hengqin now open for rental application
Macau New Neighbourhood (MNN) is the first livelihood development in the Guangdong-Macau In-DepthCooperation Zonein Hengqin built for Macau residents, integrating a quality living space, schools, health station, seniors’ service centre, and family service centre. The completion of the project construction is expected in the early second half of this year and will feature approximately 60 shop units.

Commemorative Postmark Cancellation Service of “World Telecommunication and Information Society Day”
To celebrate the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day, Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau announces that a Temporary Post Counter will be set up at the Philatelic Shop of General Post Office, from 09:00 to 17:30 on 17th May 2023 to provide the commemorative postmark cancellation service for the “World Telecommunication and Information Society Day”.

Macao International Museum Day Carnival to be held at Convention Centre of the Macao Science Centre this Sunday (14 May)
In order to celebrate the International Museum Day on 18 May, 20 museums in Macao co-organise the annual event of the museum sector, “Macao International Museum Day Carnival 2023”. The opening ceremony will be held on 14 May (Sunday), at 2pm, at the Convention Center of the Macao Science Center. The event will feature a wide range of activities, including game booths, workshops and online games. All are welcome to participate.

Residential property price index for January – March 2023
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the overall residential property price index for January - March 2023 increased by 1.3% over the previous period (December 2022 - February 2023) to 249.0. The indices for the Macao Peninsula (247.8) and Taipa & Coloane (253.8) rose by 1.5% and 0.7% respectively.

IAM organises the Macao food sector to visit Guangdong for exchange of experience on food safety management
The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) previously organised the Macao food sector to visit Jiangmen city in Guangdong province. The delegation visited a food production enterprise there and exchanged views with representatives from the Administration for Market Regulation and food enterprises there to reinforce the food safety cooperation between the two regions and elevate the level of food safety management.

Payment card and mobile payment statistics – 1st Quarter 2023

According to statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, the total numbers of personal credit cards and debit cards issued by banks in Macao increased in the first quarter of 2023. The credit card and debit card turnover both witnessed quarter-to-quarter growth. On the other hand, the number and the value of transactions of local mobile payment tools both retreated on a quarterly basis.

The 70th Macau Grand Prix will be held on 11-12 and 16-19 November this year. To give residents and tourists an early taste of the atmosphere of the Macau Grand Prix, the 70th Macau Grand Prix - Family Carnival is taking place at the Coloane Karting Track this weekend (6-7 May) to kick off the festive activities for this year’s event.

【Attracting Customers to the Neighbourhood】 Over 10,000 People Attended “Let’s Hang Out – Lusophone and Macao Products Bazaar” during Labour Day Holiday
The “2023 Let’s Hang Out-Lusophone and Macao Products Bazaar” (at Albergue), held during the Labour Day holiday, concluded successfully last weekend. The event attracted people to visit the St. Lazarus Parish, an area full of Portuguese culture and architecture, through a series of activities such as exhibitions and sales, singing and dancing performances, handicraft workshops and interactive games. The three-day event (28-30 April) attracted more than 10,000 visitors to the bazaar, many of whom were visitors interested in Portuguese-speaking countries’ products and Macao's specialties. In addition to purchasing products on site, visitors also asked for information of online and offline sales channels. Exhibitors were pleased with the number of visitors and sales performance.
