Cultural Affairs Bureau performs regular website maintenance on 20 June

In order to ensure the proper operation of its information technology system, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) will perform regular maintenance on its website firewall from 9pm to 11pm on 20 June. Therefore, the operation of several websites will be temporarily suspended, including the Cultural Affairs Bureau website and its sub-websites, the websites of the Cultural Heritage of Macao, the Macao World Heritage, the Macao Conservatory, the Archives of Macao, the Macao Museum of Art, the Macao Museum, the Macao Cultural Centre, the Macao Cultural and Creative Industries and the arts and cultural festivals, among others.



Business climate survey on restaurants & similar establishments and retail trade for April 2023

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that all types of interviewed restaurants & similar establishments and retailers registered a year-on-year rise in receipts in April 2023. Receipts of the interviewed establishments rose by 57.0% year-on-year, with notable growth in the receipts of Western Restaurants (+134.0%) and Chinese Restaurants (+82.3%). In addition, sales of the interviewed retailers grew by 73.5% year-on-year in April; retailers of Watches, Clocks & Jewellery, Adults' Clothing and Leather Goods posted substantial increases of 125.0%, 114.4% and 101.3% in sales respectively.


Visitor arrivals for May 2023

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that visitor arrivals totalled 2,213,807 in May 2023, representing an upsurge of 268.5% year-on-year but a decrease of 2.6% month-on-month. Same-day visitors (1,124,977) and overnight visitors (1,088,830) soared by 213.4% and 350.2% year-on-year respectively. Meanwhile, the average length of stay of visitors increased by 0.3 day year-on-year to 1.2 days; the duration for overnight visitors (2.2 days) and same-day visitors (0.2 day) both went up by 0.1 day.

“The 9th China (Shanghai) International Technology Fair” (CSITF) will be held from 15 to 17 June at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center. Macao SAR attended the fair for the first time as the guest city, taking the valuable opportunity and coordinating with the “1+4” moderate diversification strategy, so as to better promote the development of the four key industries with a focus on the high technology sector.



Second day of 2023 SJM Macao International Dragon Boat Races concluded

Organised by the Sports Bureau, SJM Resorts, S.A. and the Dragon Boat Association of Macao, China, and co-organised by the Municipal Affairs Bureau and the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau, the 2023 SJM Macao International Dragon Boat Races staged both the Open Category and Women’s Category of the Standard Dragon Boat Race today (18 June). After several rounds of intense races, the Fire Services Bureau and the Association of Macao Youth Development won the Open Category and the Women’s Category, respectively.



First day of 2023 SJM Macao International Dragon Boat Races kicks off

Organised by the Sports Bureau, SJM Resorts, S.A. and the Dragon Boat Association of Macao, China, and co-organised by the Municipal Affairs Bureau and the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau, the 2023 SJM Macao International Dragon Boat Races kicked off with small dragon boat races at Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre (17 June). After fierce competition among the teams, the Fire Services Bureau won in the Open Category of the Macao Small Dragon Boat Race (200m).


MGTO attends UNWTO meetings in Cambodia

The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) convened the “35th Joint Meeting of the UNWTO Commission for East Asia and the Pacific and the UNWTO Commission for South Asia” and the “UNWTO Conference on the International Code for the Protection of Tourists” in Phnom Penh, Cambodia from 15 – 17 June. Director of Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, attended the meetings and related activities.
