Exhibition “Centennial Retrospective of Lok Cheong’s Art” inaugurated at the Macao Museum of Art Echoing with the spirit of the times through art

Organised by the Macao Museum of Art (MAM) under the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) and co-organised by the Macau Artist Society, the exhibition “Centennial Retrospective of Lok Cheong’s Art” was inaugurated today (24 November) on the third floor of the Macao Museum of Art. The opening ceremony was held in a lively atmosphere and was officiated by the Vice-Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Edmund Ho Hau Wah; the Director of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR, Wan Sucheng; the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Leong Wai Man; the President of the Macau Art Master Association, Lai Ieng; the President of the Yu Un Chinese Calligraphers and Painters Association of Macao, Chui Sai Peng José; the Art Consultant of the Macau Artist Society, Cheong Iu Sang; the Executive Vice President of the Macau Artist Society, Sio In Leong. Representatives of the Lok Cheong’s family, Lok Po and Lok Hei also participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony.


UM to confer honorary doctorates on five distinguished individuals

The University of Macau (UM) will hold the Ceremony for the Conferment of Honorary and Higher Degrees 2023 on 2 December (Saturday), where honorary doctorates will be conferred on five distinguished individuals: Cai Fang, Leong Kam Weng, Ching-Ping Wong, Franco Maloberti, and William Shiyuan Wang. Doctoral and master’s degrees will also be awarded on the occasion.


Accreditation certificates of 15 categories of health professionals made available in electronic format

To align with the development of e-governance and to enhance the convenience of health professionals in demonstrating their accreditation status, the Health Professionals Council will integrate the accreditation certificates into the e-wallet of the “Macao One Account” app. Starting from 24th November 2023, the 15 categories of health professionals governed by Law No. 18/2020 – “Regime of Qualification and Registration of Health Professionals” can add their accreditation certificates to the “Macao One Account” with just one click in the app’s “E-wallet” – “My cards”– “Professional” feature. This electronic version has the same legal effect as the physical document and will enable health professionals to show their accreditation anytime, anywhere.


Christmas Market to be held in Tap Seac Square from 16 December for 17 consecutive days

To spice up the joyful festive atmosphere, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) will hold the Christmas Market in Tap Seac Square from 16 December for 17 consecutive days. The theme of the event is “Christmas Dream Workshop”. In addition to 23 special booths selling Christmas gifts and food, facilities like festive Christmas merry-go-round and Christmas spinning tea cups are available on site so that the Macao public and tourists can spend the joyful Christmas festival together.


IPIM Launches MICE Training to Help Practitioners Get an In-Depth Insight into International Development Strategies and Technology Application

In order to continuously facilitate the professional and international development of the MICE industry, as well as the cultivation of MICE professionals and practitioners, the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) launched an MICE training session yesterday (22 November) at the Complex of Commerce and Trade Co-operation Platform for China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, where IPIM’s advisory panel offered insights into topics such as attracting more international trade visitors to Macao, and increasing technology applications in MICE events, aiming to improve the professionalism of the MICE sector. A total of 42 local MICE practitioners participated in this training session.


Employment survey for August – October 2023

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that both the general unemployment rate (2.4%) and the unemployment rate of local residents (3.1%) for August - October 2023 held steady from the previous period (July - September 2023). Meanwhile, the underemployment rate dropped slightly by 0.1 percentage point to 1.5%.


Consumer price index (CPI) for October 2023

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the Composite CPI for October 2023 (105.02) grew by 1.10% year-on-year. The increment was attributed to dearer charges for eating out, rising tuition fees, as well as higher prices of clothing and gasoline; yet, the rise was partially offset by falling airfares and lower rentals for dwellings. Among the various sections of goods and services, the price indices of Clothing & Footwear, Education and Food & Non-Alcoholic Beverages rose by 5.36%, 5.06% and 2.79% year-on-year respectively, whereas the indices of Transport, Communication and Housing & Fuels dropped by 2.70%, 1.62% and 1.04% respectively. The CPI-A (104.46) and CPI-B (105.77) recorded respective growth of 0.94% and 1.30% year-on-year.
