Pristine Planet – Winter Flower Show 2023

The “Winter Flower Show 2023” will be held by the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) from 15 to 31 December under the theme “Pristine Planet”, as a celebration of the establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region and to enrich leisure activities for the public and increase the city’s characteristic tourism resources. Themed installations centering on ball-shaped flowers will be set up at the main show venue in Avenida da Praia, Taipa, allowing residents and tourists to travel in simulated pristine and planetary realms and experience unique exploration journeys.


Optimisation project of pavements in Avenida Panorâmica do Lago Nam Van and nearby roads

As the pavements in the area of Nam Van Lake have been in use for many years, the finishes have been damaged and there is a lack of shade facilities. The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) plans to carry out optimisation and reorganisation in phases to fully replace the finishes of the pavements and increase greening and leisure facilities, so as to improve the cityscape in the area of Nam Van Lake and bring a new experience to both the public and tourists.

Results of retail sales survey for 3rd quarter of 2023

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the value of retail sales surged by 80.1% year-on-year to MOP20.19 billion in the third quarter of 2023. After removing the effect of price changes, the sales volume index leapt by 78.0% year-on-year.


Cultural industries statistics 2022

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that there were 2,753 organisations operating in the four core domains of cultural industries in Macao in 2022, namely 'Creative design', 'Cultural exhibitions & performances', 'Art collection' and 'Digital media'; the figure represented a decrease of 22 year-on-year. Total number of persons engaged rose by 0.3% to 12,119, while Compensation of Employees went down by 7.9% to MOP 1.94 billion. Total Service Receipts of the cultural industries grew by 3.2% to MOP 5.88 billion. Gross Value Added that measures the contribution of the industries to the economy went up by 7.8% to MOP 2.24 billion, accounting for 1.1% of the total Gross Value Added of all economic activities in Macao in 2022, up by 0.3 percentage points from 2021 (0.8%). Gross Fixed Capital Formation increased by 36.8% to MOP 1.25 billion, mainly due to the construction of venues and optimisation of facilities and equipment by the organisations operating in ‘Cultural exhibitions & performances’. Among the four domains, Service Receipts (MOP 3.07 billion) and Gross Value Added (MOP 1.35 billion) of ‘Digital media’ took up the largest shares, with 52.2% and 60.4% of the respective total in the cultural industries.


[Building Exchange and Collaboration Platform for Global Timber Industry] Global Legal & Sustainable Timber Forum 2023 Draws to Close

The Global Legal & Sustainable Timber Forum 2023 (GLSTF 2023) successfully concluded today (22 November). The two-day event featured a main forum, specialised sub-forums and parallel activities presented by international organisations in the industry, attracting 700 guests from 36 countries and regions. The outputs of two international collaborative research projects were released and two co-operation agreements were signed during the event, facilitating the recovery and sustainable development of the global timber industry and establishing an exchange and collaboration platform for the industry while demonstrating Macao’s advantages in hosting international specialised exhibitions and conferences of new forms.
