Cultural Affairs Bureau presents the programme “Fado Nights” concerts at Dom Pedro V Theatre during the weekends in March aiming to enriching the cultural tourism experience
Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), the first “Fado Nights” concert was held in the evening of 1 March at the Dom Pedro V Theatre in a lively atmosphere. The President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Leong Wai Man; the Advisor of the Office of the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, Lo Hou Chi; the Acting Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office, Cheng WaiTong; the Head of Delegation of the Orient Foundation in Macao, Catarina Cottinelli da Costa; and Fado singers Tiago Correia and Bárbara Santos unveiled the event with a toasting ceremony before the performance.

MGTO promotes Macao in Portugal as “APAVT Preferred International Destination” to attract more long-haul European visitors and diversify source markets
The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) is joining hands with the Portuguese Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (APAVT) to promote Macao at the Lisbon Travel Market (BTL), running since February 28 until March 3, leveraging on the designation of “Macao – APAVT Preferred International Destination 2024” to increase travel flows from Portugal and Europe, as part of the work to diversify international visitor source markets.

[Concentrated Investment Promotion for 1+4 Industries] IPIM Promoted Macao-Hengqin Business Environment to 40 Representatives from the Mainland TCM Big Health Industry
In order to further promote Macao-Hengqin business advantages and stimulate the “1+4” enterprises’ interest in setting up businesses in these two regions, the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) invited a delegation of 40 enterprise representatives from the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) big health industry from different provinces including Guangdong and Jilin to visit the Pavilion of China-Portuguese-speaking Countries Commercial and Trade Service Platform and the Macao Ideas today (29th). During the visit, the representatives, many of them are from listed TCM enterprises, were presented with information such as Macao-Hengqin business environment, Macao’s investment advantages in the integrated development with the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Co-operation Zone in Hengqin, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Macao’s role as the Platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries. In addition, Pharmaceutical Administration Bureau (ISAF) also explained in detail the policies for regulating the TCM big health industry for the interested enterprises to explore business opportunities in Macao.

IAM Building to partially close for repair work carried out in stages
The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) will carry out checks, weed removal from the building exterior, renovation and maintenance work of the IAM Building in stages from March to June. To meet the needs of the construction work and ensure public safety, scaffolding will be set up during the construction period to separate the work area. Meanwhile, part of the facilities and garden area inside the building will be temporarily closed. IAM appeals to the public for their understanding of the inconvenience caused.

Gross domestic product for the whole year and the 4th quarter of 2023
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that Gross Domestic Product (GDP) expanded by 80.5% year-on-year in real terms in 2023, following the gradual resumption of local economic activity and exports of services. The GDP returned to over 80% of the level in 2019, underpinned by exports of tourism services. Per-capita GDP stood at MOP559,495 in 2023, up by 80.5% year-on-year. The implicit deflator of GDP, which measures the overall changes in prices, climbed by 6.5% year-on-year.

“Macao ‧ Hengqin Craft Market” inaugurated today
The “Macao ‧ Hengqin Craft Market”, jointly organised by the Livelihood Affairs Bureau of the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), is held at Ponto Legend Square in Hengqin from 29 February to 3 March. The event features nearly 100 stalls of cultural and creative products by entities from Macao and various provinces and cities in Mainland China. All are welcome to participate.

Transport and communications statistics for January 2024
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that licensed motor vehicles in Macao totalled 251,183 as at end-January 2024, up by 0.6% year-on-year; light automobiles (116,298) and heavy motorcycles (108,836) rose by 1.9% and 0.6% respectively. New registration of motor vehicles in January grew by 68.9% year-on-year to 1,324 (including 438 electric vehicles). There were 718 light automobiles (169 of them were electric) and 417 heavy motorcycles (100 of them were electric), representing year-on-year increases of 109.3% and 6.4% respectively. Number of traffic accidents in January climbed by 26.0% year-on-year to 1,351, with 1 person killed and 465 persons injured.

IAM launches “General Regulations Governing Public Places” Electronic Defense Service
To complement the development of electronic governance and provide more convenient service for the public, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) will launch “General Regulations Governing Public Places” Electronic Defense Service from 1 March. The public or entities can make defense to the penalty procedures initiated due to violations of the “General Regulations Governing Public Places” via Macao One Account or Business & Associations Platform on their own or by a representative.
