Parent-child leisure and recreation space planned in second phase of South Shore Waterfront Green Promenade

To respond to the society’s demand for better utilisation of waterfront space, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) plans to construct the second phase of South Shore Waterfront Green Promenade, which covers a total area of about 60,000 square metres extending from Ponte Governador Nobre de Carvalho to Portas do Entendimento. The project design encompasses parent-child play, leisure and recreation and waterfront scenery as the three main themes of the functional zones. The project aims to provide a high-quality and large scale leisure and recreational space on the waterfront for the public. It is anticipated to begin in late 2024 and the expected work period is two years.


Four Services of FSS Launched on Business & Associations Platform

When the "Business & Associations Platform" was launched, Social Security Fund's four commonly used services for employers also went online simultaneously, including "Report new hires and employment termination" launched in cooperation with the Financial Services Bureau, "Report monthly contribution information of casual workers", "Make payments to the Social Security Fund", as well as "Enquiry about Central Provident Fund’s Employer Account".


FSS and DSF Work Together to Launch the Reporting of New Hires and Employment Termination

The Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) and Financial Services Bureau (abbreviated to DSF in Macao) launched the "Reporting of New Hires and Employment Termination" function under the “One Issue” option on the "Business & Associations Platform". Employers who need to report Salaries Tax and Obligatory System Contributions for their employees can now use the “One Issue” function on the "Business & Associations Platform" to report for one time the new hires and employment termination to two departments simultaneously, instead of visiting both departments. The reporting work for two departments can be completed at one time, anytime, anywhere.


The “Service Learning Scheme” at Macao Polytechnic University promotes students’ whole-person development

To encourage active participation in community services among university students, the Student Affairs Office of the Macao Polytechnic University organised the Service Learning Scheme which aims to encourage students to engage in the community and contribute to society. The Service Learning Scheme adopted an experiential learning approach to cultivate students’ sense of social responsibility and sense of mission. The scheme included a variety of activities such as training, theme sharing, community visits and service practice, providing support to the people and groups in the community in need and offering students valuable experiences and rewarding outcomes.


IFTM Scholars won the Highly Commended Paper Award by the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Management

The Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (IFTM) is committed to support academic research and development. Two IFTM scholars have recently received the Highly Commended Paper Award by a leading journal in tourism and hospitality field, which is a testament to the international recognition of IFTM's academic research strengths.


Macao Polytechnic University Awards Scholarships to 600 Outstanding Students

The Macao Polytechnic University held the 2024 Scholarship Award Ceremony at the University Auditorium on January 13. Scholarships were awarded to 600 outstanding students to recognise their excellent achievements in different academic and professional fields. MPU encourages students to uphold the spirit of love for the country and Macao, to pursue excellence and persevere, and to contribute to the development of both the country and Macao.


Call for proposals by local parade groups for the “2024 Macao International Parade” Applications open from 16 January

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), the “2024 Macao International Parade”, in celebration of the 25th anniversary of Macao’s return to the motherland, will be held on 24 March 2024 (Sunday). IC is now inviting all registered local associations, schools, institutes and organisations to submit proposals from 16 January to 4 February. All interested local groups are welcome to participate.



[Connecting with Global MICE Market] IPIM Leads Macao MICE Delegation to Attend CEFCO 2024

The 19th China Expo Forum for International Co-operation (CEFCO 2024) was held from 10 to 12 January in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province. The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) organised a delegation comprising 24 representatives from the Macao MICE industry to attend the event in Nanchang, aiming to interact with convention and exhibition managers, professional event organisers and international celebrities in the MICE industry from all over the world.


Government, Macau Horse Race Company Ltd sign termination of horse-racing concession

The Secretary for Economy and Finance, Mr Lei Wai Nong, signed today, on behalf of the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) Government, a document with Macau Horse Race Company Ltd regarding termination of the latter’s horse-racing concession effective from 1 April 2024.
