As of 24 October, about 11,000 employers have not yet paid Social Security System’s obligatory system contributions for their employees for the third quarter of 2023, accounting for about 42% of the total employers who need to pay contributions. As the payment deadline approaches, the flow of people at service points increases. The Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) calls for employers and residents to make more use of the “Macao One Account” for making the payments, so as to avoid waiting in line and not being restricted by office hours.

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that visitor arrivals soared by 312.5% year-on-year to 2,301,056 in September 2023; however, the figure represented a drop of 28.6% month-on-month. Overnight visitors (1,169,471) and same-day visitors (1,131,585) leapt by 317.3% and 307.7% year-on-year respectively. Meanwhile, the average length of stay of visitors dropped by 0.4 day year-on-year to 1.4 days; the duration for overnight visitors (2.5 days) decreased by 1.0 day whereas that for same-day visitors (0.2 day) remained unchanged.

The Chief Executive, Mr Ho Iat Seng, is leading a Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) Government delegation to Fuzhou City and Xiamen City in Fujian Province, from today until Friday (27 October), in a bid to strengthen cooperation and expand business opportunities. During the period, Mr Ho will attend a high-level meeting with officials of the Fujian Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and the Fujian People’s Provincial Government, and attend the Macao-Fujian Cooperation Conference. Mr Ho and his delegation will visit projects on ‘Big Health’, technology, and urban planning in Fuzhou.

The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) convened the 25^th Session of its General Assembly in Samarkand, Uzbekistan from 16-20 October 2023. Macao, China attended the General Assembly as an Associate Member of UNWTO and was represented by Deputy Director of Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), Cheng Wai Tong. Besides attending the Plenary Session, MGTO Deputy Director Cheng Wai Tong also joined the Associate Members meeting to enhance exchange and engage in discussions on Associate Members’ work and future plans in the Organization.
