Direct investment statistics for 2022
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that inward direct investment flows in Macao totalled MOP 29.24 billion in 2022, down by 30.8% year-on-year. Analysed by industry, inflows of direct investment in Financial Activities, Wholesale & Retail Trade and the Gaming Sector stood at MOP 22.28 billion, MOP 4.16 billion and MOP 2.58 billion respectively. As regards immediate source of investment, capital came mainly from mainland China (MOP 20.09 billion) and the British Virgin Islands (MOP 5.68 billion).

MPU Invites Renowned International Tourism Scholar to Share Insights into Wellness Tourism and Its Contribution to Sustainable Development
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of Macao Polytechnic University invited Chair Professor Carson Jenkins, an international tourism scholar, to deliver a seminar entitled, “The Concept of Wellness Tourism and its Contribution to Sustainable Development”, in order to share with faculty members and postgraduate students from master’s and Ph.D. programs his many years of research experience in tourism policy planning as well as insights into wellness tourism. Such an intellectual sharing contributes to MPU’s research capital and its international influence in the field of wellness tourism. The seminar was chaired by the Associate Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of MPU, Dr. Cora Un In Wong.

Cultural Affairs Bureau holds creative handicraft workshops at the Tap Siac Craft Market
Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from its Portuguese acronym), the Tap Siac Craft Market will be held from 16 to 19 November and from 23 to 26 November at Tap Siac Square. A total of 62 creative handicraft workshops will be held, including 14 sessions for families. The workshops projects include ceramics, glass, bonsai, painting and leather, integrating fun, creativity and crafts. All interested parties are welcome to participate.

UM holds exhibition to commemorate centenary of birth of Henrique de Senna Fernandes
The Chinese-Portuguese Bilingual Teaching and Training Centre of the Department of Portuguese, Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Macau (UM), is holding an exhibition to commemorate the centenary of the birth of Henrique de Senna Fernandes, a renowned Macanese writer. The exhibition, which started on 16 October and will continue until 18 December, showcases the writer’s literary works and mementos. Those who are interested are welcome to visit the exhibition.

The Macao Grand Prix Museum (the “Museum”) under the management of Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) will launch a series of special activities and arrangements in tandem with the arrival of the 70th Macau Grand Prix next month. The highlights include a brand-new mapping show, a retrospective video that captures the Macau Grand Prix’s extraordinary highlights, a special exhibition on an internationally-leading racing team, virtual reality feature, extension of opening hours and special discount for ticket purchase on site, among others. These are rolled out to let residents and visitors experience the vibes of the racing month in celebration of the platinum jubilee of the Macau Grand Prix, while deepening integration of “tourism + sports” and enriching the kaleidoscope of travel experiences.
