Business climate survey on restaurants & similar establishments and retail trade for February 2023
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that receipts of the interviewed restaurants & similar establishments increased by 22.6% year-on-year in February 2023. All types of interviewed establishments registered a year-on-year rise in receipts, with Western Restaurants recording a notable growth (+64.1%). In addition, sales of the interviewed retailers went up by 7.0% year-on-year in February. Retailers of Cosmetics & Sanitary Articles and Leather Goods posted respective increases of 27.8% and 21.1% in sales, whereas Department Stores saw a 10.7% decrease.

Environmental statistics 2022
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that, in 2022, the highest temperature of the year was 37.4 ºC in July, an increase of 1.6 ºC from last year’s record; the lowest temperature was 6.0 ºC in February, down by 0.1 ºC. Number of very hot days (days with maximum temperature at or above 33 ºC) totalled 38, and the number of cold days (days with minimum temperature at or below 12 ºC) totalled 43, which were 6.7 days and 3.9 days more than the climatological normal for 1991-2020. Meanwhile, total precipitation dropped by 175.4 mm year-on-year to 2,030.8 mm.

Macao Entrepreneur Delegation Pays Investigation Visit to Portugal
In line with the Macao SAR government’s Europe visit, a delegation of more than 40 Macao entrepreneurs is take a trip to Lisbon and Porto, Portugal from 16 to 24 April, to visit and have field inspection in 13 local entities, including industrial and commercial organisations, as well as enterprises in key fields such as big health, high-tech and trade.

Organised by the Macao Government Tourism Office, the event “Experience Macao Unlimited – Macao Promotion in Lisbon” is held from 15 to 22 April in Lisbon, Portugal. The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) participated in the event and held various activities, in order to promote Macao’s image as a cultural city, showcasing the cultural characteristics of Macao as “a base for exchange and cooperation where Chinese culture is the mainstream and diverse cultures coexist”.
