Adjustment to NAT result requirement starting midnight of 6 February for individuals with Hong Kong travel history to leave Macao for mainland China

In accordance with the Notification about Complete Resumption of Mutual Visits of People Between the Mainland and Hong Kong & Macao promulgated by the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council today (3 February), the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre announces that, starting midnight of 6 February 2023, individuals with a travel history to the Hong Kong SAR are not required to present a negative nucleic acid test (NAT) result when leaving Macao for mainland China, whereas the requirement to present the negative result issued within 48 hours when leaving Macao for mainland China remains unchanged for individuals with a travel history to Taiwan or foreign countries within the past 7 days (waived for children aged 3 or below). The requirement applies to individuals heading to mainland China after having entered Macao via the Hong Kong SAR from Taiwan or abroad.

Return of tour group visitors – MGTO gets well prepared to resume reception for Mainland tour groups besides the launch of destination promotions in different markets

The Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council announced the “Notification about complete resumption of mutual visits of people between the Mainland and Hong Kong & Macao” today (3 February). The Notification will be enforced from 00:00 on 6 February 2023, including reinstatement of operations of group tours joined by Mainland residents to Hong Kong and Macao. Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) held a press conference this morning (3 February) to introduce its schemes for destination promotion and special offers. The Office gets prepared with the trade for welcoming tour groups from the Mainland once again. Furthermore, the Office is mapping out promotional initiatives tailored for international visitor markets to bolster Macao’s tourism industry and economy towards robust development.


Adjustments in the preventive measures against COVID-19 infection at school after the Chinese New Year holidays

The DSEDJ continuously pays attention to the health of teachers and students in non-tertiary education schools. Statistics show that impact of COVID-19 on teachers and students continued to decrease after the Chinese New Year holidays; during the said period, there was no mass infection of COVID-19 at school. After seeking advice from the health department, it was decided that starting from 6 February, teachers and students will not be required to do a rapid antigen test before going to school or participating in inter-school competitions or activities. If teachers and students have symptoms of discomfort, they should do the said test at home. If the result is positive, they should neither go to school nor participate in competitions and activities.
