A total of 393 tenders received for public tender of public market stalls
The submission of tenders for the public tender of the 15 stalls in two markets closed at 5:00 p.m. today (16 November). The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) has received a total of 393 tenders. Assessment will be made subsequently based on 5 items of assessment criteria, including the tender participant’s operation strategies, experience and qualification, diversity of product categories and others to select the suitable business operators, with the aim of bringing new vigour into the markets.

IPIM Leads Macao MICE Delegates to Attend the 62nd ICCA Congress, Enhancing Exchange and Co-operation
The 62nd International Congress and Convention Association Congress 2023 (62nd ICCA Congress) was held in Bangkok, Thailand on 12-15 November. As an ICCA member, the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) has organised six delegates from Macao’s MICE sector to attend the event, aiming to facilitate exchanges and co-operation between Macao and the international MICE sector as well as MICE organisations, with a view to keeping abreast of industry information and market development trends, whilst promoting the advantages of Macao’s MICE industry.

Results of visitor expenditure survey for the 3rd quarter of 2023
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that, attributable to a substantial rise of 821.3% in the number of visitor arrivals, total spending of visitors (excluding gaming expenses) surged by 576.7% year-on-year to MOP19.60 billion in the third quarter of 2023; moreover, the figure represented an increase of 28.9% compared to the same quarter of 2019. Total spending of overnight visitors (MOP16.86 billion) and same-day visitors (MOP2.74 billion) soared by 540.4% and 938.5% year-on-year respectively. In the first three quarters of 2023, total spending of visitors amounted to MOP52.06 billion, an uplift of 290.3% year-on-year and a growth of 8.8% compared to the corresponding period in 2019.

The Judiciary Police urges the public not to scalp tickets for the Grand Prix
Recently, the Judiciary Police (PJ) discovered individuals selling fixed-price tickets, complimentary tickets, and special passes for the 70th Macao Grand Prix on social platforms online. PJ reminds the public not to sell fixed-price or gift tickets from event organizers, as such actions may violate “illegal pricing” under Law No. 6/96/M. In addition, the public should purchase tickets through official channels or authorized retailers to prevent ticket touting. Should members of the public suspect they have encountered online scams or other criminal activities, they should immediately call the Judiciary Police's Anti-Fraud Enquiry hotline at 8800 7777 or the crime report hotline at 993 for assistance.

Foreign exchange reserves and nominal effective exchange rate index for the pataca – October 2023
The Monetary Authority of Macao announced today (16 November) that the preliminary estimate of Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves amounted to MOP221.1 billion (USD27.45 billion) at the end of October 2023. The reserves increased by 0.4% from the revised value of MOP220.1 billion (USD27.29 billion) for the previous month. Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves at end-October 2023 represented 11 times the currency in circulation or 89.3% of pataca M2 at end-September 2023.

UM invites experts and scholars to discuss MSAR Government’s Policy Address for 2024
The Centre for Macau Studies (CMS) of the University of Macau (UM) held a seminar on the Policy Address for the Fiscal Year 2024 of the Macao SAR today (15 November). Experts and scholars were invited to discuss the policy address and provide suggestions for the future governance of Macao. During the seminar, experts and scholars expressed their support for the objective of ‘Consolidate Development and Enhance Diversification’ of the policy address. They also believe that the ‘1+4’ strategy, Macao-Hengqin integration, as well as the development of various infrastructures are extensions of the policies of previous years, which can promote the future social development of Macao in an orderly manner.

China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries Film Festival showcases the charm of the cinematic world of China and the Lusophone countries under the theme “Dresses Galore in Films”
Under the patronage of the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR Government, organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), and co-organised by the Galaxy Entertainment Group and SJM RESORTS, LIMITED, the “China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries Film Festival”, integrated in the 5th “Encounter in Macao – Arts and Cultural Festival between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries”, is held from 10 to 24 November, featuring over 20 film productions in Chinese and Portuguese.
