To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region, the photography exhibition “Uniting for Progress on a New Journey—25th Anniversary of Supply of Agricultural Food Products from the Mainland to Macao” jointly organised by the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China (GACC) and the Secretariat for Administration and Justice (SAJ) of the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region, and co-organised by the Gongbei Customs District and the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) was inaugurated at the IAM Gallery today (5 June). Nearly 100 precious pictures are displayed at the exhibition, allowing visitors to understand the historical process and far-reaching significance of the food supply from the Mainland to Macao, and have a real sense of the Mainland’s support for the safety and security of food supplied to Macao.

Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), a global higher education analytics firm, has released its World University Rankings 2025, featuring over 1,500 universities. The University of Macau jumps nine places from last year to rank 245^th, and the Macau University of Science and Technology also rises by 41 places from 505^th last year to 464^th.

As part of the Macao Chinese Orchestra Concert Season, the Hakka guzheng concert “1,000 Years on the Strings” will be held at the Dom Pedro V Theatre on Saturday 15 June at 8pm. Mr. Rao Shuhang, an heir and outstanding player of the Guangdong Hakka guzheng, is invited to serve as Artistic Director in this concert. In collaboration with the Macao Chinese Orchestra (MCHO), he will perform several pieces of Hanyue (Guangdong Hakka music), leading the audience to experience the elegance of traditional guzheng music.

Jointly organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) and Wynn Macau, Limited, the applications for the 2024 Film Arts Training Programme will be open from 5 to 26 June. Selected candidates will be taught by a veteran film art director to deepen their knowledge of film arts, and will have the opportunity to be engaged in film production, in order to improve relevant professional skills. The Macao University of Tourism (UTM) focuses on developing students’ skills in critical thinking, analysis, problem identification and problem-solving. The university encourages students to explore the unknown and prepare themselves to face new challenges in the future. In light of this, UTM hosted the 9^th annual Tourism Education Student Summit event 2024 on 5 June in Mong-Há Campus. This unique event provides a platform for outstanding students to present their graduation thesis and research results to the industry in a discussion on the development trends in tourism and hospitality within Macao and the Greater Bay Area.

According to statistics released today (5 June) by the Monetary Authority of Macao, broad money supply rebounded in April. Meanwhile, resident deposits rose from a month ago whereas loans to residents posted a decline.

Nearly 300 “Made in Macao, Macao Brand” products from 17 Macao enterprises, were exhibited in the “THAIFEX-Anuga Asia 2024” held in Bangkok, Thailand from 28 May to 1 June. The delegation was jointly organised by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and the Industrial Association of Macau, to showcase the advantages of Macao products to nearly 80,000 international professional buyers from 133 countries and regions. During the event, nearly 250 business meetings were facilitated. According to some participating Macao enterprises who had reached procurement co-operation with partners in Southeast Asia, mainland China and Hong Kong, participating in international exhibitions could not only enhance the international exposure of Macao brands but also provide effective platforms for Macao small- and medium-sized enterprises to “go global”.

The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and the Economic Development Bureau of Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Co-operation Zone in Hengqin (the “Co-operation Zone”) jointly conducted investment promotion event once again in overseas region. This time was in the San Francisco Bay Area in the United States, where they introduced the superimposed investment opportunities for the Macao-Hengqin integrated development to over ten international business executives in the big health and high-tech fields. According to some business executives, the integrated development of Macao and Hengqin has great investment potential, because it not only connects the vast market in mainland China, but also links to the resources of Macao and Portuguese-speaking countries. Some of them expressed their intension to expand their businesses to Macao and Hengqin through the Investor’s “One-stop Service” provided by IPIM.

The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Europe (France) Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference, jointly hosted by the People's Government of Guangdong Province, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government, and the Macao SAR Government, was held in Paris, France on 24 May (Paris time). Governor of Guangdong Province Wang Weizhong, Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong SAR Government Paul Chan, and Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Ao Ieong U, representing the Chief Executive of the Macao SAR, attended the event and delivered keynote speeches. The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) organised Macao enterprises to attend the Conference along with the Macao SAR government delegation, taking this opportunity to present Macao-Hengqin business and investment environment to European investors and those from other countries and regions. The event attracted over 400 leaders of the political, commercial and industrial sectors from mainland China, France, other European countries and regions, as well as Hong Kong and Macao SARs, including the leaders from Fortune 500 companies.
