IFTM holds Career Day Around 1,200 job vacancies for IFTM graduating students Alumni Entrepreneur Sharing Session held on the same day
Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (IFTM) held 2023 Career Day on 2 March at IFTM Taipa Campus. A total of 65 organisations (including 3 from Hong Kong SAR, Guangdong and Shanghai) from various sectors set booths and provided around 1,200 job vacancies with job details and employment information, as well as the latest trend in the job market to IFTM graduating students. The Career Day aimed to provide a direct communication platform among students and employers as well as to better prepare graduating students for successful job application later.

Permanent secretariat of Western Pacific Regional Forum for Harmonization of Herbal Medicines to be established at UM
The permanent secretariat of the Western Pacific Regional Forum for the Harmonization of Herbal Medicines (FHH) will be established at the University of Macau (UM). The secretariat will assist the Macao SAR government in promoting economic diversification by developing the Chinese medicine industry into a signature industry of Macao, so as to elevate the role of Macao in the international development of Chinese medicine.

MGTO presents online learning videos titled “Complaint Handling and Mediation Skills – Catering Industry” and after-class assignments from March
Starting from 1 March to May 2023, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) is rolling out a series of online learning videos entitled “Complaint Handling and Mediation Skills – Catering Industry”, providing opportunities for catering industry employees to master the skills of handling complaints and mediating disputes, which will in turn advance catering service quality and promote the sustainable development of the industry.

Commissioner Against Corruption Chan Tsz King led delegation to visit ICAC of Hong Kong
Today (28th February), the Commissioner Against Corruption, Chan Tsz King, led a delegation to visit the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) of Hong Kong and met with the Commissioner, Woo Ying-ming. Both sides exchanged views on the works of integrity building of Macao and Hong Kong and stressed that the goals that both of them are pursuing are the same and that they will continue to strengthen the cooperation in the future and bear zero tolerance of lawbreakers.

Transport and communications statistics for January 2023
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that licensed motor vehicles in Macao totalled 249,580 as at end-January 2023, up by 0.5% year-on-year; light automobiles (114,087) and heavy motorcycles (108,187) rose by 0.4% and 1.8% respectively. New registration of motor vehicles in January went down by 37.4% year-on-year to 784, of which 201 were electric vehicles. There were 392 heavy motorcycles (100 of them were electric) and 343 light automobiles (63 of them were electric), representing year-on-year decreases of 35.1% and 19.3% respectively. Number of traffic accidents in January dipped by 2.5% year-on-year to 1,072, with 2 persons killed and 327 persons injured.

External merchandise trade statistics for January 2023
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that total merchandise export amounted to MOP899 million in January 2023, down by 37.2% year-on-year. Value of re-exports (MOP810 million) fell by 34.3%, of which re-exports of Diamond & diamond jewellery and Watches declined by 83.1% and 63.8% respectively, while those of Articles for casino leapt by 735.3%. Value of domestic exports (MOP89 million) shrank by 55.4%, of which domestic exports of Garments and Pharmaceutical products & organic chemicals tumbled by 79.8% and 50.3% respectively. Meanwhile, total merchandise import went down by 24.7% year-on-year to MOP10.45 billion; imports of Mobile phones, Gold jewellery and Beauty, cosmetic & skincare products reduced by 56.8%, 37.1% and 32.8% respectively, whereas imports of Electronic components and Food & beverages surged by 102.1% and 2.5% respectively. Merchandise trade deficit in January 2023 totalled MOP9.56 billion.
