UM holds Exhibition of Master Hsing Yun’s Works

In tribute to the memory of Master Hsing Yun, honorary doctor of the University of Macau (UM) and founder of the Fo Guang Shan Buddhist order in Taiwan, the UM Library has launched the Exhibition of Master Hsing Yun’s Works, which will take place in the library lobby from 8 February to 8 March. About 50 books written by Master Hsing Yun, including autographed copies, and related videos will be on display at the exhibition.



Happy Chinese New Year – National Art Troupes Performance Season in Macao Ballet Yimeng by the National Ballet of China to be staged in Macao

Organised by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China and the SecretariatforSocialAffairsandCulture of the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), co-organised by the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, the Cultural AffairsBureau and the Education and Youth Development Bureau of the Government of the Macao SAR, and executed by China Arts and Entertainment Group Ltd., the ballet Yimeng by the National Ballet of China will be staged at the Venetian Theatre in Macao on 18 and 19 February (Saturday and Sunday), at 8pm. All are welcome to enjoy the performance.


Residential property price index for October – December 2022

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the overall residential property price index for October - December 2022 decreased by 1.0% over the previous period (September - November 2022), at 247.2. The indices for the Macao Peninsula (247.1) and Taipa & Coloane (247.6) fell by 1.2% and 0.2% respectively.


Macao welcomes promulgation of new regulation for Cooperation Zone

The Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) Government welcomed the promulgation today of the Regulation for Promoting Development of the Guangdong-Macao Intensive Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.


DSI’s measure to increase application time is well-received on the first day

In response to the demand for application from citizens, starting today (7th February 2023), the Identification Services Bureau (DSI) extends service hours to 9 p.m. and opens on weekends to accept applications. The appointment for increased application quotas was open from 9 a.m. today and well-received by citizens. Over 80 percent of increased application quotas have been reserved on the first day.


CE affirms bridging role of Portuguese- and English-language media between foreign-language communities and Government

The Chief Executive, Mr Ho Iat Seng, today commended the role played by the local Portuguese- and English-language media during the past three years of the pandemic, in terms of creating a bridge between speakers of those languages and the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) Government.




UM student wins 1st prize in China Postgraduate Mathematical Contest in Modelling

Huang Hongliang, a postgraduate student in the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), University of Macau (UM), recently won a first prize at ‘Huawei Cup’ — the 19th China Postgraduate Mathematical Contest in Modelling. The competition attracted a total of 17,970 teams from more than 400 universities and research institutes around the world, with only 1 per cent of the teams winning a first prize.
