Government to press ahead with Guangdong-Macao cooperation and integration into national development

The Chief Executive, Mr Ho Iat Seng, answered legislators’ questions on 16 November regarding the Policy Address for the Fiscal Year 2023, and reiterated the Government’s commitment to facilitating development of the Guangdong-Macao Intensive Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, and to bolstering Macao’s integration into national development.


DSI introduces online submission of supplementary documents for Visit Permit to Hong Kong application

The Identification Services Bureau (DSI) has been continuously expanding electronic services in line with the development of electronic administration of the Macao Special Administration Region Government. At the same time, DSI strives to promote digitalization of internal management. The first phase starts with the implementation of a paper-free workflow in the operation related to the Visit Permit of Residents of Macao SAR to Hong Kong SAR (hereinafter called Visit Permit to Hong Kong). The digitalization covers the entire workflow from receiving application form, collecting signature and handling documents of applicants at the service counter, to internal examination and approval of application, document production and so on. All of these will improve workflow of internal operation, enhance work efficiency and effectively strengthen the management efficiency of the department. Starting form today (17 November 2022), DSI launches online submission of supplementary documents for Visit Permit to Hong Kong application. With the new online submission service, citizens no longer need to proceed to the department in person for providing additional information. Documents can be done in only one visit.



Results of the 40th Macao Young Musicians Competition announced Special Prizes Competition will be held in December

The results of the 40th Macao Youth Musicians Competition organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), have already been announced. Participants can check the results through the Macao Young Musicians Competition website at www.icm.gov.mo/CJMM.


Macao World Heritage Monitoring Centre officially inaugurated to improve the mechanism for the protection of Macao’s World Heritage, with the use of modern technologies

In order to further improve the mechanism for the protection of Macao’s World Heritage, build an intelligent, standardised and systematic World Heritage protection and management system that can better meet the international and national protection and management requirements, establish the positioning of Macao as “a base for exchange and cooperation where Chinese culture is the mainstream and diverse cultures coexist”, with the support of the National Cultural Heritage Administration of China, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from its Portuguese acronym) has established and inaugurated the Macao World Heritage Monitoring Centre on 16 November. The Monitoring Centre is located at No. 5-7, Rua de Sanches de Miranda.


UM wins 14 Macao Science and Technology Awards

The Macao SAR government today (16 November) held an award presentation ceremony for the Macao Science and Technology Awards 2022. The University of Macao (UM) has won 14 awards, accounting for over 60 per percent of all the awards presented this year, including winning all awards in the Technological Invention Award category. UM’s postgraduate students have also performed very well, with 15 doctoral students and five master’s students receiving the Scientific and Technological R&D Award for Postgraduates.


Coordinated Portfolio Investment Survey – 30 June 2022

According to the statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, on 30 June 2022, investment of Macao residents (including individuals, the government and other legal entities but excluding Macao’s foreign exchange reserves) in securities issued by unrelated non-residents reached MOP1,006.1 billion at current market value, representing a decline of 8.4% from end-2021 or 6.6% year-on-year. Among the various instruments of portfolio investment, equity securities (including mutual funds and investment trust units), long-term debt securities and short-term debt securities were valued at MOP331.9 billion, MOP623.6 billion and MOP50.6 billion respectively. As compared with end-2021, the market values of equity securities, long-term debt securities and short-term debt securities dropped by 14.7%, 3.7% and 17.8% respectively.


Number of surveyed supermarkets increased to 102 Enhanced price comparison function now available at Price Information Platform

To further enhance the transparency of supermarket prices, the Consumer Council has increased the number of surveyed supermarkets and now includes 102 supermarkets in its supermarket price survey work, number of surveyed products have been increased to 400 items divided in 15 categories. The search function of the “Macao Price Information Platform” app has also been improved for consumers’ easy navigation.


Maritime Silk Road International Cultural Forum inaugurated, with the presence of experts and scholars in Macao, fully accomplishing the role of Macao as “One Platform, One Base”

Jointly presented by the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR Government and the National Cultural Heritage Administration of China, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, the China Academy of Cultural Heritage, the Guangzhou Secretariat of City Alliance for Maritime Silk Road Heritage Conservation and World Heritage Nomination and ICOMOS China, and co-organized by the University of Macau and the Macao Institute for Tourism Studies, the “Maritime Silk Road International Cultural Forum” was inaugurated on 16 November, at the Convention Center of the Macao Science Center. Centered around the theme of “Conservation and sustainable development of the cultural heritage of the Maritime Silk Road”, the Forum has the participation of a number of experts and scholars from Mainland China, Macao, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and the United Kingdom, who were invited to present their research results and deliver speeches.


List of hotels for red health code holders

In accord with the latest pandemic prevention measures for individuals entering Macao, the Broadway Hotel and Rocks Hotel will start serving holders of red health code from 22 November. The last date for red health code holders to check in at Sheraton Grand Macao is 21 November.
