The 2023 MGM Macao International Regatta to set sail tomorrow
The 2023 MGM Macao International Regatta, organized by the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government and the Ursa Major Sailing Event Management, co-organized by the Marine and Water Bureau of the Macao SAR Government and the Macau Sailing Association, supported by Zhuhai Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau and title-sponsored by MGM, will be held from 5 to 8 January 2023. 35 teams will compete for the title of three championships.

UM’s bacterial toxin research helps understand pathogenicity of gastroenteritis caused by bacterial contamination of seafood
A research team led by William Chao Chong Hang, associate professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS), University of Macau (UM), has identified a new type of V. parahaemolyticus toxin RhsP, which uncovers new insights into Rhs-type toxin release triggered by autoproteolysis and has laid the foundation for understanding how V. parahaemolyticus infects human guts by killing and outcompeting the host microbiota and causes gastroenteritis. The research results have been published in the internationally renowned journal Cell Reports.

DSEDJ announced the arrangement for epidemic prevention before and after the class resumption date

Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau will release the “Supplements for Philatelic Album of Macao 2022” on 10th January 2023, and they will be available for sale at the Philatelic Shop of General Post Office and the Communications Museum. The album pages are pre-printed with all the stamps’ images of 2022. Your collections of stamps and souvenir sheets of 2022 can be put into the pre-printed pages for convenient collection.

Transport and communications statistics for November 2022
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that licensed motor vehicles in Macao totalled 248,845 as at end-November 2022, up by 0.7% year-on-year; light automobiles (113,940) and heavy motorcycles (107,792) rose by 0.8% and 2.1% respectively. New registration of motor vehicles in November dropped by 5.9% year-on-year to 1,102 (including 245 electric vehicles), with that of light automobiles falling by 14.9% to 423 (142 of them were electric). From January to November 2022, new registration of motor vehicles went down by 17.5% year-on-year to 9,378. Number of traffic accidents in November decreased by 5.6% year-on-year to 1,014, with 2 persons killed and 381 persons injured. In the first eleven months of 2022, there were 10,301 traffic accidents, which resulted in 7 deaths and 3,672 injuries.
