Visitor arrivals for November 2023

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that visitor arrivals soared by 604.9% year-on-year to 2,583,597 in November 2023; however, the figure represented a drop of 6.3% month-on-month. Same-day visitors (1,356,802) and overnight visitors (1,226,795) leapt by 697.0% and 525.0% year-on-year respectively. Meanwhile, the average length of stay of visitors dropped by 0.7 day year-on-year to 1.2 days; the duration for overnight visitors (2.2 days) decreased by 1.3 days whereas that for same-day visitors (0.2 day) rose by 0.1 day.


IAM sets up mobile stations for processing dog license application and renewal

To provide convenience for owners to apply for and renew dog licenses, as well as to vaccinate dogs against rabies, the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) will set up the “Mobile Service Stations for Dog License Application and Renewal” in various districts in Macao between January and February 2024.

UM’s Master of Social Sciences in Clinical Psychology programme now open for applications

The University of Macau (UM) will offer the Master of Social Sciences (MSocSc) in Clinical Psychology programme in the 2024/2025 academic year, with the aim of training professionals in clinical psychology. Application for the programme is now open until 29 February 2024.


Ministry of Education Frontiers Science Center for Precision Oncology of UM holds its first Academic Committee meeting, academicians and scholars at home and abroad recognise its achievements

The Ministry of Education Frontiers Science Center for Precision Oncology (FSCPO) of the University of Macau (UM) held its first Academic Committee meeting. A number of academicians and research experts from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the US National Academy of Sciences and other prestigious institutions listened to FSCPO’s reports and offered advice to the centre. In addition, during the meeting with UM Rector Yonghua Song, members of the Academic Committee highly praised FSCPO for its outstanding achievements. They emphasised the remarkable and groundbreaking progress the centre has made in cancer research, and its ability to produce high-quality research within just over two years since its establishment.


Dennis Lo Yuk Ming gives talk at UM on prenatal and cancer liquid biopsies

The University of Macau (UM) held a Doctor honoris causa Lecture today (19 December). Dennis Lo Yuk Ming, honorary doctor of UM, gave a talk titled ‘Pushing Forward the Frontiers of Prenatal and Cancer Liquid Biopsies’ to discuss the current and future developments of the field of liquid biopsy. The event attracted many experts, scholars, industry practitioners, researchers, as well as UM faculty members and students.
