【Attracting Customers to the Neighbourhood】 Over 10,000 People Attended “Let’s Hang Out – Lusophone and Macao Products Bazaar” during Labour Day Holiday
The “2023 Let’s Hang Out-Lusophone and Macao Products Bazaar” (at Albergue), held during the Labour Day holiday, concluded successfully last weekend. The event attracted people to visit the St. Lazarus Parish, an area full of Portuguese culture and architecture, through a series of activities such as exhibitions and sales, singing and dancing performances, handicraft workshops and interactive games. The three-day event (28-30 April) attracted more than 10,000 visitors to the bazaar, many of whom were visitors interested in Portuguese-speaking countries’ products and Macao's specialties. In addition to purchasing products on site, visitors also asked for information of online and offline sales channels. Exhibitors were pleased with the number of visitors and sales performance.

Labor Day holiday – Visitor arrivals surge 2.6-fold year-on-year in Macao Single-day visitor arrivals and hotel occupancy rate both reach new heights
Spanning five days (29 April – 3 May 2023), the 1st May Labor Day holiday has come to an end in the Mainland. Preliminary statistics show that Macao recorded about 493,000 visitor arrivals. The average hotel occupancy rate topped 85%. Single-day visitor arrivals exceeded 100,000 for the first three consecutive days of the holiday. On 30 April, the single-day volume of visitors reached 134,000 and the average hotel occupancy rate topped 93.2%, both reaching new heights.

No booking needed for Ecological Trail Garden of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants and South China Medicinal Plants Garden and Wetland in Seac Pai Van starting from 8 May
In order to optimise the visitor experience of the Ecological Trail Garden of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants and South China Medicinal Plants Garden and the Wetland in Seac Pai Van, the public may visit the above venues without bookings starting from 8 May, and the opening hours of the venues will be adjusted to 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily starting from the same day.

Company Statistics for the 1st Quarter of 2023
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 1,284 new companies were incorporated in the first quarter of 2023, an increase of 189 year-on-year. Number of new companies operating in Wholesale & Retail Trade and Business Services totalled 515 and 354 respectively. Total value of registered capital of new companies was MOP495 million in the first quarter, which represented a fall of 96.3% year-on-year due to the incorporation of a new company with relatively large capital in Financial Activities in the same quarter last year (the decrease would be 3.9% if that company was excluded from comparison). Companies in dissolution totalled 222 in the first quarter, and the value of registered capital of these companies amounted to MOP257 million.

Monetary and financial statistics – March 2023
According to statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, broad money supply rebounded in March. Meanwhile, both resident deposits and loans increased from a month earlier.

The online registration period for the exchange of the Tiger and Rabbit Zodiac banknotes and the XXIV Olympic Winter Games banknotes will end at 6:00pm on 12 May 2023 (Friday). The Monetary Authority of Macao would like to remind those citizens who are interested in exchanging for the said banknotes to complete the registration process as soon as possible.

Portuguese minister of education shares insight on humanities education with UM faculty and students
The University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FAH) recently held the Macao Humanities Forum. The event featured João Costa, minister of education of Portugal and chair professor of linguistics at NOVA University Lisbon, who delivered a lecture titled ‘Arts and Humanities Education in the 21st Century—The Portugal Experience’. Involving both online and in-person elements, the lecture attracted many faculty members and students.

New Dragon Inn in the 33rd Macao Arts Festival cancelled due to illness of protagonist
Due to illness, the protagonist of the performance New Dragon Inn, integrated in the 33rd Macao Arts Festival, organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), will not be able to travel to Macao, and the performance has therefore been cancelled. IC apologises for the inconvenience caused.

Booking services for IAM’s green facilities added to “Macao One Account”
Eight green facilities under the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) can be booked via “Macao One Account” starting from 4 May, making it more convenient for the public to use the booking services for venues and facilities of different governmental departments via the platform.
