The DSEDJ announces anti-epidemic measures for school opening

In order to ensure a smooth opening of the new academic year for teachers and students of tertiary education institutions and non-tertiary education schools, the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) has consulted professional advices from the Health Bureau and has communicated with the education sector that, if the epidemic continues to mitigate, subject to strict compliance with relevant epidemic prevention measures, tertiary education institutions and non-tertiary education schools can start school according to their plans in late August and early September respectively.


Macao Polytechnic University Holds Online Graduation Ceremony for Academic Year 2021/2022 800 Graduate Degrees Conferred

The Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) Graduation Ceremony for academic year 2021/2022 was held at 4:00 p.m. on August 11th 2022, during which 800 students graduated from postgraduate and undergraduate programmes. Due to another round of the outbreak of COVID-19, the graduation ceremony was held online. Ms. Ao Ieong U, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, officiated and delivered a speech expressing her best wishes to all the graduates on behalf of the Macao SAR Government.


Company statistics for the 2nd quarter of 2022

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 923 new companies were incorporated in the second quarter of 2022, a decrease of 518 year-on-year. Number of new companies operating in Wholesale & Retail Trade (346) and Business Services (237) went down by 121 and 151 respectively. Meanwhile, total value of registered capital of the new companies rose by 39.2% year-on-year to MOP322 million, attributable to the incorporation of new companies with relatively large capital in Business Services and Financial Activities during the quarter. Companies in dissolution totalled 171 in the second quarter, and the value of registered capital of these companies amounted to MOP27 million.


Macao Health Code app fails to open on some mobile phone models; Affected users can use the web version instead

Some members of the public reported that the Macao Health Code app could not be opened on some Android devices, and some had experienced app crashing after update. According to the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre, this is due to some compatibility issues between the updated Android system and the Macao Health Code app. The Centre has immediately looked into the cause and revised the app accordingly.


Online registration for the subscription of 2023 Year of the Rabbit commemorative coins and Lunar Year Commemorative Coin Collector Box (2020-2031) starting next Monday

The Monetary Authority of Macao (AMCM) will be launching 2023 Year of the Rabbit commemorative coins and online registration for the subscription will start on next Monday (15 August 2022). At the same time, the Lunar New Year Commemorative Coin Collector Box (2020-2031) will be launched for citizens who are interested in collecting a total of 12 pieces of 1 oz Silver Proof coins of the current series.
