Macao Creative Pavilion participates in the Hong Kong International Licensing Show to promote Macao’s original IP brands
The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from its Portuguese acronym) organised the participation of Macao’s cultural and creative industries in the Hong Kong International Licensing Show 2025, in which it has set up the “Macao Creative Pavilion”, creating business opportunities and exchanges for local cultural and creative industries, supporting the local original IP brands and expanding their market externally.

New mural on stone steps in Bairro Horta da Mitra showcases the characteristics of the neighbourhood

The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) invited young artists to create a new mural on the stone steps of Rua de Tomás da Rosa under the theme “The Hoop of Time of the Bairro Horta da Mitra”. The mural enriches the scenery of local streets and alleys by portraying the historical changes in the neighbourhood over a century. Residents and tourists are welcome to visit.

Students of UM Faculty of Health Sciences and Huitong College of Beijing Normal University conduct reciprocal visits
The Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) of the University of Macau (UM) and Huitong College of Beijing Normal University jointly organised a student exchange activity themed ‘Cross-Regional Academic Collaboration’, in which students from both universities conducted reciprocal visits. The activity aimed to promote academic exchanges in health sciences between the two universities and strengthen friendship and cooperation between students from both sides.

“Parallel Worlds, Exhibition from Macao, China” to be staged at “19th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia” Top-notch team presents Macao’s multifaceted urban landscape
Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) and implemented by the Macao Museum of Art, with the support of MGM, the “Parallel Worlds, Exhibition from Macao, China” will be held from 10 May to 23 November 2025 in Venice, Italy as one of the Collateral Events of the “19th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia”. The opening ceremony will be held on 9 May, at 1 pm (local time) in the “Exhibition from Macao, China”, showcasing the unique architectural landscapes of Macao to the world.

Package tours and hotel occupancy rate for the 1st quarter of 2025

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that inbound package tour visitors totalled 550,000 in the first quarter of 2025, an uplift of 9.1% year-on-year. Number of available guest rooms in hotel establishments decreased by 5.8% year-on-year to 44,000, while the average occupancy rate of guest rooms rose by 5.2 percentage points to 90.1%. The average length of stay of guests remained at 1.7 nights.

Dr. Sun Yat Sen Swimming Pool, Taipa Central Park Swimming Pool, Hac Sa Park Swimming Pool, and Cheoc Van Swimming Pool opens to public from 1 May
Starting from 1 May, four outdoor swimming pools managed by Sports Bureau including Dr. Sun Yat Sen Swimming Pool, Taipa Central Park Swimming Pool, Hac Sa Park Swimming Pool, and Cheoc Van Swimming Pool, will be opened to the public. The daily opening hours will be divided into three sessions (see appendix for the detailed).

UTM Lecturer Appointed Chief Expert for WorldSkills 2026 Bakery Competition
The Macao University of Tourism (UTM) is pleased to announce that Dr. David Charles Wiley Jr., lecturer at UTM, has been officially appointed by WorldSkills International as Chief Expert for the Bakery-47 project at the 48th WorldSkills Competition, to be held in Shanghai, China from 22 to 27 September 2026. This prestigious appointment follows his previous role as Expert Lead for the 2024 competition in Lyon, France.
